Statistical energy analysis (SEA) is a well-known method to analyze the flow of acoustic and vibration energy in a complex structure. For an acoustic space where significant absorptive materials are present, direct field component from the sound source dominates the total sound field rather than a reverberant field, where the latter becomes the basis in constructing the conventional SEA model. Such environment can be found in a car interior and thus a corrected SEA model is proposed here to counter this situation. The model is developed by eliminating the direct field component from the total sound field and only the power after the first reflection is considered. A test car cabin was divided into two subsystems and by using a loudspeaker as a sound source, the power injection method in SEA was employed to obtain the corrected coupling loss factor and the damping loss factor from the corrected SEA model. These parameters were then used to predict the sound pressure level in the interior cabin using the injected input power from the engine. The results show satisfactory agreement with the directly measured SPL.
The objectives of this study are as follows: (1) Developing ISLE-based STEM learning media, (2) Building 21st-century skills and character, (3) Analyzing the improvement of learning outcomes through lesson study. This research is a descriptive quantitative study developed at the STEM UNSYIAH Research Center and carried out at Unsyiah Laboratory High School. The instruments used in this study are validation rubric for media and material experts and Teacher Observation sheets and monitoring sheets for the increasing 21st-century character. Based on the data analysis: 1) Validation of the Moment of Inertia props from 2 media experts obtained an average percentage value of 86.4% with an excellent category. 2) Validation of Student Worksheet by two validators expert in material teaching obtained an average percentage value of 84.77% with an excellent category. 3) The teaching and learning results using teaching aids and LKPD through a Lesson Study conducted by the observer obtained a percentage with an average of 83.5% excellent category. 4) There is an increase in 21st-century character in students by 77% with an excellent category. ISLE-based STEM Learning Media is very suitable for improving 21st-century skills.
Garlic has long been known for its wide array of therapeutic effects, including hypolipidemic, antihypertensive, antimicrobial, and possibly anticancer effects; conversely, some adverse effects of garlic, such as acute pain and neurogenic inflammation, have also been reported. However, information detailing the toxicological significance of garlic is scarce. In this study, the cytotoxicities of fresh garlic extract (FGE) and boiled garlic extract (BGE) and their underlying toxic mechanisms were investigated using INT-407 intestinal epithelial cells. A brief exposure (20 minutes) to FGE induced a concentration-dependent increase in cell death (37 +/- 2% at 300 microg/mL), but no cytotoxic effects were induced after exposure to BGE. For FGE, only the high-molecular-mass (>10-kDa) proteins were associated with cytotoxic effects. FGE-treated cells showed morphological changes such as increased cell rounding and fragmentation, suggesting programmed cell death (apoptosis). Apoptosis of FGE-treated cells was evaluated by observing the fragmented multinuclei stained with Hoechst 33342. From the cell cycle analysis, the increase in hypodiploidic cells and in the G2/M phase cell population suggested not only apoptosis but also cell cycle arrest of FGE-treated cells. Pretreatment with N-acetyl-l-cysteine almost completely prevented FGE-induced cell death, suggesting that reactive oxygen species (ROS) may play a key role in FGE-associated cytotoxicity. Consumption of fresh garlic may be linked to potential cytotoxicity of intestinal cells when ROS scavengers are not present.
Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) is a well-known method to analyze the flow of acoustic and vibration energy in a complex structure. This study investigates the application of the corrected SEA model in a non-reverberant acoustic space where the direct field component from the sound source dominates the total sound field rather than a diffuse field in a reverberant space which the classical SEA model assumption is based on. A corrected SEA model is proposed where the direct field component in the energy is removed and the power injected in the subsystem considers only the remaining power after the loss at first reflection. Measurement is conducted a box divided into two rooms separated by a partition with an opening where the condition of reverberant and non-reverberant can conveniently be controlled. In the case of a non-reverberant space where acoustic material was installed inside the wall of the experimental box, the signals are corrected by eliminating the direct field component in the measured impulse response. Using the corrected SEA model, comparison of the coupling loss factor (CLF) with the theory shows good agreement.
Stunting is a form of long-term reflection of the quality and quantity of food consumed is inadequate and often suffers from infectious diseases in childhood. The problem of stunting is a nutritional problem that needs attention because it can affect the quality of human resources. Stunting problems, especially those that occur in toddlers, are considered serious because stunting conditions in toddlers can cause delays in motor development and decrease intelligence levels. The type of research used in this study is an analytical observational study with a case control research design. The results of data analysis showed that there was an effect of parenting on the incidence of stunting in toddlers. The amount of risk is 5, 1 which means that families who apply good parenting to toddlers will reduce the risk of stunting. This study is in line with research conducted by Rahmayana, et al (2014) which states that there is a significant relationship between parenting patterns and the incidence of stunting. Parenting patterns of parents to children in this case is the practice of giving food is an important foundation in growth. The role of parents, especially mothers when breastfeeding their children, when giving food, how to give food to children and controlling the portion size and nutritional content in children's food will improve nutritional status so that it will reduce the incidence of stunting in children. The solution to this problem is to screen children under five to detect stunting.
