The need to integrate massively increasing amounts of data on the mammalian brain has driven several ambitious neuroscientific database projects that were started during the last decade. Databasing the brain's anatomical connectivity as delivered by tracing studies is of particular importance as these data characterize fundamental structural constraints of the complex and poorly understood functional interactions between the components of real neural systems. Previous connectivity databases have been crucial for analysing anatomical brain circuitry in various species and have opened exciting new ways to interpret functional data, both from electrophysiological and from functional imaging studies. The eventual impact and success of connectivity databases, however, will require the resolution of several methodological problems that currently limit their use. These problems comprise four main points: (i) objective representation of coordinate–free, parcellation–based data, (ii) assessment of the reliability and precision of individual data, especially in the presence of contradictory reports, (iii) data mining and integration of large sets of partially redundant and contradictory data, and (iv) automatic and reproducible transformation of data between incongruent brain maps. Here, we present the specific implementation of the ‘collation of connectivity data on the macaque brain’ (CoCoMac) database (http://www.cocomac.org). The design of this database addresses the methodological challenges listed above, and focuses on experimental and computational neuroscientists' needs to flexibly analyse and process the large amount of published experimental data from tracing studies. In this article, we explain step–by–step the conceptual rationale and methodology of CoCoMac and demonstrate its practical use by an analysis of connectivity in the prefrontal cortex.

nün zooplankton faunası araştırılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda rotiferden 21, kladoserden 11 ve kopepoddan 7 olmak üzere toplam 39 tür belirlenmiştir. Rotifer türleri tüm su kesiminde bulunmakla beraber, daha çok yüzeye yakın yerlerde dağılım göstermiştir. Kladoser türlerinin daha çok orta su ve yüzeye yakın; kopepod türlerinin ise dibe yakın kısımlarda dağılım gösterdikleri belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca baraj gölündeki bazı su kalite parametreleri de ( Abstract:Vertical distribution of Birecik Dam Lake (Turkey) zooplankton Birecik Dam Lake was studied. At the end of the study, a total of 39 species were determined; 21 of them belong to Rotifera, 11 belong to Cladocera and 7 belong to Copepoda. Altough rotifers were found in all depths, they were more abundant at surface layer. While species of cladocera were mainly found in mid water column, copepoda species were distributed in deep water. In addition, some water quality parameters (pH, EC, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, potassium, calcium, magnesium, carbonate, bicarbonate, sulphate, organic matter, Ophosphate, dissolved oxygen, hardness, temperature) were analised and all parameters were found in normal range.

Marine and Life SciencesSome water quality parameters (water temperature, conductivity and pH) and zooplankton fauna were investigated in 10 water wells. Fourteen ( 14) species of Rotifera (46.67%), 10 species of Copepoda (33.33%), and 6 species of Cladocera (20%) were recorded. It was observed that the most widely distributed species are Rotaria neptunia (7 wells), Keratella quadrata (5 wells), Daphnia curvirostris (8 wells), Coronatella rectangula (in 6 wells), Chydorus sphaericus and Pleuroxus aduncus (5 wells each), Megacyclops viridis (8 wells) and Tropocyclops prasinus (in 6 wells). Most species (14 species) were found in well 8, followed by wells 3, 5, 7 and 9 with 11 species. There was a significant and positive relationship between zooplankton species diversity, abundance, and water quality parameters. It can be concluded that some of the rotifer and cladocer species and most of the copepod species in the study are groundwater compatible species.

The harpacticoid copepods, Phyllognathopus viguieri (Maupas, 1892) and Leptocaris brevicornis (Van Douwe, 1904) are reported for the first time from, respectively, the lakes Golbasi and Golkent. This is the first record of these two species for inland waters of Turkey. Males and females of Phyllognathopus viguieri and Leptocaris brevicornis were consistently found during two sampling periods. In addition, 13 other species of copepods species were found in the two lakes.
