Tsunami evacuation simulation combining tsunami inundation simulation and people evacuation simulation was applied to the western half of tsunami-prone area of Banda Aceh and its use for tsunami disaster education and city planning was studied in cooperation with school teachers and city office personnel. People evacuation was simulated based on multiagent simulation handling over 20,000 agent models, including walking family, motorcycle, and automobile agents. Agent ratios and their basic responses were defined in a survey of mass evacuation in Meulaboh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, triggered by the May 7, 2010, earthquake. Tsunami inundation simulation theoretically replicated the 2004 great Indian Ocean tsunami as developed by Professor Shunichi Koshimura of Tohoku University who used a sophisticated source model. Several simulations were developed using different scenarios such as evacuation start timing, automobile evacuation ratios, and evacuee destinations. Simulations were shown to Banda Aceh school students and instructors and to municipal office personnel. Based on their evaluations, the tsunami evacuation simulation proved to be effective in disaster education and city planning and was improved by their suggestions. We plan to expand the simulation area to the eastern half of Banda Aceh for practical use.
The KRPL program is a breakthrough that could increase the ability of communities in terms of farming, food self-sufficiency in order to meet family food needs are diverse, nutritious and healthy and ensure continuity in terms of food supply that is safe for each individual. The implementation of the KRPL program in Banda Aceh City has 9 factors includes motivation, participation, land area, age, education, work background and also the community's perspective on the yard only on aesthetic value. From nine factors which suspected to affect the effectiveness of the program, then there are three factors that significantly positive, namely: motivation (X 1 ), land area (X 3 ), and the intensity of the counseling (X 7 ). It is meant to improve the effectiveness of the program, then increase the motivation factor, the area and intensity of extension needs to be improved. From the results of data processing shown that there are 6 factors were not significant, namely: participation (X 2 ), age (X 4 ), education (X 5 ), jobs (X 6 ), the characteristics of innovation (X 7 ), grants (X 9 ). These 6 factors have no significant effect because the land area that is owned is too narrow, which is less than 3 m 2 so that the results obtained are low and do not affect the independence of the program.
Sugar Palm plants are multifunctional plants, with all parts of the plant that can be used for human survival. The palm tree is one of the balancing plants for the ecosystem and rural ecology. The purpose of this study was to determine the utilization of sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) plants and production process of sugar palm carried out by the community live around the area of PT. Toba Pulp Lestari. Observation and data collection were made with interview and questionnaires to the respondents. The results revealed that the most common use the utilization of sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) by the community around the PT Toba Pulp Lestari area was to produce palm wine, so-called tuak, through tapping techniques and traditional fermentation process. Another use that is seek by the community is to harvesting fruit and palm fibre which provide additional income for them. The utilization of palm sugar has the potential to provide economic added value to the community accompanied by proper cultivation and appropriate processing of yields due to high demand of sugar palm derivative products.
