This research aims to determine the relationship between gross domestic product, exports, imports, foreign exchange reserves, and foreign debt in Indonesia from 1978 – 2018. As a developed country, Indonesia must know the interrelatedness between the GDP and the variable in the international balance of payment to move the economy well. This research using the Vector Autoregression (VAR) method that includes ADF Test, Granger Causality, Johanssen Co-integration, Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), and forecasting with Impulse Response Function (IRF) and Variance Decomposition (VD). From the Granger causality test results that have been carried out among the five variables, it is concluded that there is no causality relationship, but there are six one-way relationships. Simultaneously, the cointegration test from the Johanssen Co-Integration test results in the five variables tested. Forecasting for the next ten years through the IRF and VD tests shows that GDP positively responds to foreign debt and exports. Exports provide a positive response to GDP and imports. Imports give a positive response to exports, GDP, and foreign exchange reserves. At the same time, foreign debt gives a positive reaction to GDP and imports. Then foreign exchange reserves provide a positive response to exports and foreign debt. The government needs to allocate funds from foreign debt to the export sectors to increase GDP. Investment is a critical macroeconomic variable for economic growth and development in any country. As a developing country with the fourth largest population in the world, Indonesia is also dependent on investment coming in from both home and abroad. A good investment climate is one of the solutions in overcoming economic problems so that foreign investors can invest in Indonesia. Obviously, various factors influence investors' willingness to invest in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of government spending, corruption, economic growth and wages on foreign direct investment in Indonesia. The study uses Ordinary Least Square (OLS) multiple linear regression analysis for the research period 2000-2020. The results show that the variables of government spending, corruption and economic growth have positive and significant impact on foreign direct investment, while the variable of salary has negative and significant impact on foreign direct investment. The Indonesian government needs to reduce the level of corruption and wage level to attract investors.
The world of education, which is a major need in developing the quality of human resources, also feels the presence of the corona virus. Universities have also been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Education as a very important aspect in the development of human resources must surrender and adapt to current conditions. For old students, of course, having to adapt to online or online lectures which some people agree is more difficult than offline lectures. This study looks at the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on student interest in studying at the College of Economics in Makassar City. To achieve the research objectives and provide answers to the problems posed, this research uses quantitative methods by taking cross-sectional data in the form of responses from universities, namely the College of Economics (STIE) in Makassar City. The online learning process is indeed a new thing in the world of Indonesian education where most of the teaching staff and students are still adapting to this condition. It is undeniable that this online learning process makes it easier for both teachers and students (students) to be able to carry out lectures anywhere and anytime. However, we also cannot deny that the ability to absorb material from each student is different. The contents of each student's glass are different from one another. There are students who absorb lecture material very easily, but there are also those who require more detailed explanations and even face-to-face explanations. So that the pandemic condition with the online learning process also affects students' interest in college. There are those who do decide to stay in college, as explained earlier, but there are also those who choose not to go to college first on the grounds that they cannot follow the online learning process.
