RESUMO: Na expectativa de sensibilizar a nossa percepção do ver e de nos permitir ser afetados pelas relações epistêmicas outras produzidas, o artigo tem como objetivos apresentar e refletir sobre as contribuições que a presença dos acadêmicos indígenas trazem para as disciplinas que são amparadas ou atravessadas pelos conteúdos da Lei nº 11.645/08 e que têm possibilitado a experiência de descentramento do pensamento hegemônico que domina a academia. Depoimentos de indígenas e não indígenas evidenciam as fissuras, as produções e as reelaborações que têm sido produzidas nesses espaços de tensão acadêmica.
A educação escolar entre os povos indígenas, no Brasil, representou, historicamente, um recurso fundamental à construção de identidades colonizadas. Nas últimas décadas do séc. XX, esta realidade vem mudando, a partir da Constituição Federal de 1988, que garante uma educação específica, diferenciada, bilíngue e comunitária. Os indígenas passam a ressignificar esta escola como espaço de fronteira, lócus de negociação entre culturas distintas. Em Mato Grosso do Sul, as primeiras experiências acontecem na década de 1990 com a criação do Curso Ára Verá, formação de professores Guarani e kaiowá. As outras etnias se juntaram para viabilizar o curso “Povos do Pantanal” (nível médio), em 2007. Este processo de formação tem como eixos temáticos: território/territorialidade, sustentabilidade, diálogo intercultural, bilinguismo.
Esse artigo foi escrito por pesquisadores da área de Educação atuantes há tempos com a Educação Escolar Indígena e que propõem um diálogo com a antropologia da criança e a etnologia indígena para suas reflexões e atuações neste campo. Realizando um mapeamento da produção neste tema na região específica de Mato Grosso do Sul, que é marcada pela violência e violação dos direitos indígenas mas também pela inovação em experiências escolares e formativas com e para indígenas, o artigo explora principalmente as mudanças epistemológicas que ocorrem neste campo quando indígenas assumem o papel de pesquisadores.
