A B S T R A C THigh prices and the scarcity of hardwoods require the use of alternative wood sources, such as the Guapuruvu (Schizolobium parahybae), an arboreal species native to the Atlantic Forest, which has fast growth and high market potential. However, there is no information on its cultivation in the Brazilian Cerrado. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the contribution of mineral fertilization and liming in a Cerrado soil on the initial growth of Schizolobium parahybae. The experiment was set in a randomized block design, with 4 treatments (Cerrado soil; soil + liming; soil + fertilizer; and soil + fertilizer + liming) and 15 replicates. The following variables were analyzed: plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, total, shoot, leaf, root and stem dry matter, and root/shoot ratio. The obtained data were subjected to the analysis of variance, Tukey test and regression analysis. During the initial growth, Schizolobium parahybae can be cultivated in a Brazilian Cerrado soil only under mineral fertilization, with no need for soil liming.Crescimento inicial de Schizolobium parahybae em solo de cerrado brasileiro sobre calagem e adubação mineral R E S U M OOs elevados preços e a escassez de madeiras nobres tornam necessário o uso de fontes alternativas de madeira, como guapuruvu (Schizolobium parahybae), espécie arbórea nativa da Mata Atlântica a qual apresenta rápido crescimento e alto potencial mercadológico; todavia, não há informações sobre seu cultivo no cerrado do Brasil; objetivou-se, neste sentido, analisar a contribuição da adubação mineral e da calagem no solo do cerrado sobre o crescimento inicial de Schizolobium parahybae. O delineamento foi em blocos casualizados, com 4 tratamentos (solo do cerrado; solo + calagem; solo + adubo; solo + adubo + calagem) e 15 repetições. As variáveis analisadas foram: altura de planta, diâmetro do caule, número de folhas, massas secas totais da parte aérea, das folhas, da raiz e do caule e relação raiz/ parte aérea. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise de variância, ao teste de Tukey e à análise de regressão. Observou-se, durante o crescimento inicial, que o Schizolobium parahybae pode ser cultivado em solo do cerrado brasileiro apenas com adubação mineral sem a necessidade de calagem do solo.

The high global food demand has led to crop management practices such as the use of micronutrients to increase soybean productivity. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of boron fertilisation applied to two varieties of soybeans at different doses and different phenological stages on yield components, productivity and physiological quality of seeds. Two different soybean varieties were tested, one conventional (variety BRS 7980) and one transgenic (variety M 7739 IPRO), in two field experiments performed in parallel during the 2014/2015. A randomised block experimental design was used in both experiments, with a 3 x 5 factorial scheme, with four replicates per treatment. The tested factors were three phenological stages (V6, V9 and R1) and five boron doses (0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 B kg ha -1 ). The following parameters were analysed: leaf boron concentration, chlorophyll concentration, yield components and productivity. Boron fertilisation at different phenological stages had no effect on most agronomic traits, but it did increase productivity in both varieties, independent of the phenological stage of application. The boron dose indicated for maximum production for both varieties is 3.51 kg B ha -1 .

The objective of this work was to investigate forest fire damages on the structural characteristics of a 12-year-old Eucalyptus urophylla settlement located in the UEG experimental area, Câmpus Ipameri-GO. The plantation consists of an area of 0.4 há-1 ,where 75% were affected by flames. To evaluate the fire intensity, the following parameters are used: burn height, percentage of burn in relation to height and intensity the fire. For a determination of the level of burning occurred in concepts at four levels: I-surface fire without canopy burning; II-Surface fire with partial canopy burning; III-Partial consumption of the canopy by the flame; IV-Total canopy consumption by flames and / or exchange rate lethality. For trees that fit the level of burning I, II and III, it is recommended to monitor the attack of fungi and insects, in order not to compromise their increment and the final quality of the wood, the plants affected by the level of burning IV was reached the cambium. Based on the evaluation of the studied parameters, the fire intensity was classified as average in Eucalyptus urophylla of a 12 years of age. Rate lethality temperature of 60 ° C, and there was incidence of basal shoots in the stem. In order to evaluate the fire damage to the exchange, one should not only consider the external appearance of the bark, but also its thickness and the time of the fire to remain in the plantation area.

Due to the scarcity of information on the use of fertilizers on the Brazilian Firetree (locally known as guapuruvu), this study aimed to evaluate the initial stages of guapuruvu (Schizolobium parahyba (Vell.) S.F.Blake.) plant growth using different doses of phosphorus (P). The experiment was conducted within a greenhouse environment in dystrophic Red-Yellow Latosol soil samples from the Brazilian Cerrado as the substrate in plastic containers with a capacity of 10 dm 3. The experimental design was completely randomized, with six treatments and four replicates each, totaling 24 experimental units. The treatments consisted of six different treatments of P: 0; 50; 100; 150; 200 and 250 mg dm-3 , using triple superphosphate as the P-source. At 150 days, the plant height, root crown diameter, number of leaves, dry matter (leaves, stems and roots) and P content in leaves, stems, roots and soil were evaluated. In addition, the Dickson Quality Index was estimated. The results showed that plants treated with doses of 100 to 250 mg dm-3 of P had higher growth rates among the analyzed variables. Guapuruvu revealed a requirement for phosphorus in the early stages of development at the studied edaphoclimatic condition, demonstrating the necessity for the application of phosphorus doses above 100 mg dm-3 via fertilizers in soils with low P availability.
