Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influential factors on behavioral intentions toward Islamic financial technology (FinTech) use in Indonesia, for all types of FinTech services as follows: payments, peer to peer lending and crowdfunding. Design/methodology/approach This study adopted structural equation modeling using the partial least squares approach to test the hypotheses. Based on purposive sampling, the questionnaire was distributed through an online survey and received 1,262 responses. Findings The results demonstrate that the latent variables, planned behavior, acceptance model and use of technology, have a significant impact on encouraging behavioral intentions to use Islamic FinTech. The “acceptance model” latent variable is the most influential factor. Research limitations/implications This study was conducted only in Indonesia; therefore, the results cannot be generalized to other countries. However, the study provides important strategic guidelines for policymakers in designing a framework to enhance the development of Islamic FinTech and to achieve financial inclusion. It is suggested that future studies include samples from FinTech users in different countries. Originality/value This study adds to the literature especially on the factors affecting behavioral intentions to use Islamic FinTech. There are limited studies concerning this topic, especially for Indonesia. The unique feature of this study is the use of a large primary data set that covers most provinces in Indonesia. Furthermore, this study focuses on three types of Islamic FinTech, namely, payments, peer to peer lending and crowdfunding.
Purpose This study aims to develop an Islamic crowdfunding model based on a website platform for startup companies. Design/methodology/approach Apart from reviewing related literature, specifically focus group discussion with 16 CEO of startup companies, in-depth interview with two crowdfunding provider, Fiqh expert and technology platform expert for the development of an Islamic crowdfunding website platform for startup companies. Findings The concept of Islamic crowdfunding is recommended as a funding solution for small and medium-sized enterprises and startup companies. Therefore, it was deemed crucial for this study to develop an Islamic crowdfunding model based on a website platform as a form of innovative acceleration to provide alternative funding for a startup company, which subsequently expands to a growing and sustainable business. Furthermore, the use of a website platform for the operation of a crowdfunding mechanism is deemed as an effective means to link cross-geographical investors with the startup company owners in Indonesia, specifically East Java. Practical implications Islamic crowdfunding website platform can be the solution for startup companies to obtain capital funds while startup companies are not able to provide collateral to attain financial assistance and experience problems. Expectedly, the government should provide legality, regulation, licensing and socialization matters pertaining to crowdfunding to obtain legal legality from the country. Originality/value There is still no research to develop the Islamic crowdfunding model using a website platform. This study was expected to provide essential insights on the effective development of an Islamic crowdfunding website platform integrated with startup companies, investors and Sharia committee.
This research aim to examine the effect of perception usefulness, ease of use, security and privacy and trust on online zakat in Indonesian. The sample of this study is the Muslim community in Indonesian who have fulfilled the provisions to pay zakat as many as 31 respondents. The data use are primary data collected using a questionnaire through google form. Indicators of research variables are measured using differential semantic scales 1 to 7. This study proves that usefulness, security and privacy as well as thrust have a significant positive on the use zakat online. Effect on the ease of use the result has a significant negative effect on the use of zakat online. The study also found that the criteria of individuals (respondent) who were relatively young and male were not problematic with the complexity of the online zakat website.Keywords: ease of use, usefulness, security and privacy, trust, online zakat usage, zakat
