Religious value is one of the factors determining compliance behavior of zakat as revealed by a number of studies. However, lack of study focused on religious practices and compliance behavior of zakat especially in the business zakat scenario. Hence, the main objective of this study is to determine whether religious practices influence compliance behavior of business owners towards business zakat. 276 questionnaires managed to be collected from SMEs entrepreneurs in Selangor. Rasch Measurement Model was employed to analyze the data. The construct was found reliable with Cronbach Alpha of 0.98. The statistical indicators such as mean square (MNSQ), Z-standardized (ZSTD), point measure correlation (PtMea Corr) and Person Item Distribution Map (PIDM) revealed that among 276 respondents, 106 respondents who performed religious practices meet the business zakat compliance. Interestingly 132 respondents did not comply with business zakat payment even though they perform business practices. The implication of this paper provides evidence of the usefulness of Rasch Measurement Model in identifying the compliance behavior of zakat payment among businesses. It is also able to explain that religious practices really influence Muslim business community to comply with business zakat payment.

This paper investigates the theoretical relationship between the primal and dual Total Factor Productivity (TFP) from the accounting measurement perspective and also assesses their accuracy in measuring unobserved TFP growth in the presence of market power (MP) and non constant returns to scale (NCRTS) in the case of the medium sized Malaysian industries. In support of this, this paper uses an empirical method to estimate TFP growth by using medium sized Malaysian manufacturing data at 5-digit SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) level. In order to achieve this objective, this paper first tests whether the sample of medium sized Malaysian industries have constant factor shares in total revenue. T-tests have been used to examine the hypothesis stating that factor shares in total revenue are constant over time. Finally, this paper compares the estimates of TFP growth to those of primal and dual TFP accounting measures

Purpose The purpose of this study is to analyse numerous aspects affecting residential property price in Malaysia against macroeconomics issues such as gross domestic product (GDP), exchange rate, unemployment and wage. Design/methodology/approach The hedonic pricing model has been adopted as econometric model for this research to investigate the relationship between residential property price against macroeconomics indicator. The data for residential property price and macroeconomic variables were collected from 1991 to 2019. Multiple linear regression had been adopted to find the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. Findings The result shows that the GDP has a significant positive impact on residential property price, while exchange rate has no significant impact although it was positive. In addition, the unemployment rate has a significant impact on the residential property price and has a negative relationship. Similar to the wage that shows the negative relationship with residential property prices. Moreover, during the pandemic COVID-19 in Malaysia, this research shows a more transparent view of the relationship between residential property price and the macroeconomic issues of GDP, exchange rate, unemployment and wage. Originality/value The findings of this research found that macroeconomics issue cannot be eliminated due to Malaysia is a developing country, and there will always be an issue that will happen, but the issues can be reduced to maximise the advantages, e.g. during COVID-19, the solution to fight against COVID-19 were crucial and weaken the macroeconomics issues.

This study was conducted in order to determine the roles of government funding in enhancing Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Sabah, Malaysia. Specifically, the study is focused on the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Sabah, Malaysia which were funded by many government-linked agencies such as Yayasan Tekun Nasional, Amanah Ikhtiar, Koperasi Pembangunan Desa and Agro Bank. This qualitative study was carried out in the rural and urban areas in Sabah, Malaysia. The findings of this study revealed that there are several main roles of government funding to enhance the competitiveness of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Sabah, Malaysia. These four main roles were namely provision of access to capital for opening and improving the business, provision of access to capital for skills and knowledge development, improvement of entrepreneurs' relations, and promoting entrepreneurship and reducing "fear of failure". In accordance, it can be concluded that the government funds are instrumental in the success of the efforts to enhance the competitiveness level of the so-called Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Sabah, Malaysia. Besides, it is highly recommended that state government and all parties (the stakeholders) should specifically implement efforts to fund the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises as well as to improve their level of competitiveness.
