Perfusion of isolated toad's heart with aqueous extract of L. multiflora caused a significant reduction of the amplitude and frequency of normal and CaCl 2 induced contractions and heart rate. This suggests that the effects of L. multiflora are indirectly mediated by transmembranar movements of calcium. Inotropic and chronotropic effects of L. multiflora are partially inhibited by atropine; this implies that this extract could contain parasympathomimetic substances. Inotropic Phytothérapie (2005) Numéro 5: 193-199 and chronotropic actvities of epinephrin are not significantly influenced by L. multiflora. These results could explain antihypertensive properties of L. multiflora.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
