The influence of Rb,CO,additive on the properties of YBCO was investigated. The impurity was added to the usual stoichiometry of Y,Ba,Cu,Oy to produce an initial batch with general formula Y ,Ba,Cu,(Rb)xO where x=O to 0.60. Only traces of(2.21 r102wt%)Rbwerefound~n allsamplesafterfinal baking.Adding Rb shifted the temperature T , of the "magnetic transition" towards lower temperatures without affecting the eiectricai HTSC characteristics and improved the grain size homogeneity.
We present results concerning the e[. [L'ct o/'adding potassium and excess copper (1 +5wt.%)
complex susceptibility Z,,~ = Z'-JZ" ~[" K('u-doped YBCO was measured as a function of the temperature, the magnetic field amplitude and the KCu concentration. The behavior of the intergraln loss temperature T m was analyzed through the relationship h ~ a(1 -O".The results obtained showed that the presence o/" K3UuO 2 on the gram boundaries changes drastically the intergranular coupling and. within certain concentration limits, improves the crttical HTS (' characteristics.
