Introduction. The relevance of the treatment of chronic tonsillitis is due to both the high prevalence and severity of the course of the disease with the variable development of tonsillogenic complications, both local and general. Important aspects are not always effective results of conservative methods of treatment, including the use of antibacterial drugs and, as a result, a decrease in the quality of life of patients. Objective. Based on the dynamics of blood leukocyte indices and local signs of chronic tonsillitis, to determine the effectiveness of a course of treatment using an effective antimicrobial agent of plant origin in patients of various age groups. Materials and methods. A prospective study was conducted in 494 patients aged 8 to 58 years who were treated on an outpatient basis for more than two years. Depending on the form of the disease and ongoing therapy, patients were randomly divided into 4 subgroups. Results and discussion. Evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment in groups of patients was carried out according to the indices in the leukocyte formula. A decrease in the average values of the indices was verified in most patients, which manifested itself in the activation of the phagocytic process with an antimicrobial herbal preparation and made it possible to reduce the manifestations of local and systemic clinical symptoms of chronic tonsillitis. Conclusion. Based on an objective assessment of the manifestations of local symptoms of chronic tonsillitis and an analysis of the dynamics of leukocyte blood indices, the effectiveness of a course of treatment with the inclusion of an antimicrobial agent of plant origin in patients of various age groups was shown.
The article presents a review of modern literature on the problem of nosocomial rhinosinusitis. This pathology is rarely distinguished from the total number of diseases of the paranasal sinuses, given a number of differences in the etiopathogenesis, clinical course, and features of the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. The publication presents a classification of nosocomial sinusitis, shows the role of various microflora in the development of the presented form of rhinosinusitis, in which fungal flora plays a special role. The features of the pathogenesis of the disease are indicated, taking into account the special status of the patient in the intensive care unit. The presented review shows the specific impact on the function and physiology of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses of additional life support methods for the patient, such as a nasogastric tube, mechanical ventilation. The difficulties of diagnosing and treating this nosology are also described, considering the characteristics of the patient’s comorbid condition. The relationship between the specifics of medical care provided to patients in the intensive care unit and its influence on the microflora and tone of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses is shown. Thus, nosocomial sinusitis has a number of significant differences in the etiopathogenesis, course and outcomes of the disease as well as approaches to treatment and prevention measures, being a current problem of modern otorhinolaryngology requiring more detailed study.
The registers present the data about using medical technology such as their efficiency, safety and monitoring of therapeutical results in the real clinical practice conditions. The pharyngeal diseases regional electronic register (ER) has been developed. The patients' computerized register is developed to give the information support to otolaryngologists in patients' examining who suffer from pharyngeal diseases as well as to analyze the results of patients'pathogenetic therapy and unify the control for the treatment dynamics, dispensary following-up and the disease prevention. The program interface is presented by dialogue windows in which biographical data, the results of the medical studies including patients' complaints, anamnesis, local status, clinical and laboratory indices are given. Patients' visits, methods of the treatment as well as the dispensary registration and crossing off the register are reflected in separate supplementary sheets. ER is integrated with the expert system of the acute pharyngeal diseases that gives a quick and necessary information. Besides it allows to transfer the data using email and CD.
