In this study, we conducted a noncarcinogenic risk assessment of consuming vegetables and fruits grown in two old mining areas from the Banat area of Southern Carpathians (Romania), Moldova Veche (M) and Rusca Montana (R) and in a nonpolluted reference area located near the village of Borlova (Ref). Concentrations of Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Ni, Cd and Pb in soils and commonly eaten vegetables and fruits were measured and used for calculating the weighted estimated daily intake of metals (WEDIM), the target hazard quotients (THQ) and the total target hazard quotients (TTHQ) for normal daily consumption in adults. Levels of certain metals in soils and plants from the R area (Pb) and the M area (Cu) were higher than those measured in the Ref area—and often exceeded normal or even alert-threshold levels. TTHQs for the R area (1.60; 6.03) and the M area (1.11; 2.54) were above one for leafy vegetables and root vegetables, respectively, suggesting a major risk of adverse health effects for diets, including these vegetal foodstuffs. Moreover, THQ and TTHQ indicated a higher population health risk for the R area than for the M area, with the Ref area being a safe zone.

Global warming is an unanimously accepted phenomenon by the international scientific community, being already highlighted by the analysis of observational data over long periods of time, with an increase in temperature of over 1 °C. Climate change in Romania is part of the global context, taking into account the regional conditions, with an increasing trend of arid summer. While the link between high temperatures, climate change and rainfall has been modeled in detail, the situation is not the same for plant water accessibility. The period of time between 1898 and the present, corresponding to the annual records of precipitation and evapotranspiration, overlapped with important political and administrative changes in the studied area, and with extensive hydro-amelioration works. The aim of the paper is to statistically follow the evolution over time of precipitation, namely of evapotranspiration measured in Western Romania, which would allow the expression of conclusions regarding the improvement directions of the water regime. In order to follow the evolution in time of these data, the interval of 1898–2019 was divided into three periods: 1898–1950, 1951–1989 and 1990–2019, respectively. The increase in temperature, especially during the vegetation period and the large number of years in which evapotranspiration quantitatively exceeds the precipitation, indicating the need for effective measures to regulate the water balance.

(1) Background: Hibernation in pens covered with LFC was associated with high mortality of C. aspersum snails in Romanian snail farms. This three-year study aimed to develop a simple, but effective system for protecting breeders in colder climates. (2) Methods: The first phase investigated the (pre)hibernal burrowing behavior and the overwintering habitat choice. Protective structures based on straw, LFC, and/or HDPE were tested at pilot level (no snails). The most suitable system was applied under farm conditions. (3) Results: Wood and ridge-tile micro shelters were significantly preferred to corrugated iron micro shelters. Burrowing specimens acted as shallow-burrowers, and this behaviorwas significantly more common for looser soils. All pilot systems displayed significantly higher thermal protection efficiency compared to the sole use of LFC. The balance between straw moistening and thermal protection favored using structure soil/LFC/straw/10-cm air cushion/HDPE. Its use yielded significantly higher survival compared to the sole use of LFC. Most hibernating snails clustered together in large groups, attached on the lower surface of micro shelters. Predator occurrence appeared to marginally affect overwintering survival. (4) Conclusions: The “sandwich” system could be an effective solution for overwintering mature C. aspersum snails in colder climates.

Wheat is considered the largest agricultural crop acreage worldwide. More than 50% of human caloric needs is ensured by grain products. The presence of different species of weeds in cereals causes loses between 15 -20% and even 60-80% of the crop in the absence of control measures. The most dangerous monocotyledonous species present in this culture are Apera spica -venti (wind grass), Avena fatua (wild oat) and Bromus sp., they produce huge damage to both varieties for consumption and seed lots. Chirilă C. (2001), states that the species Avena fatua is one of the 132 species considered problem, namely: direct harm and high on production; has a high resistance to agro-chemical control measures; and the number or rapacity reduce the positive effect of some production factors. This study aims to provide new data on chemical control of Avena fatua in agroecosystems species of wheat. Research on chemical control of Avena fatua species were conducted in Teaching and Research Station, belonging to the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine "King Michael I of Romania" in Timisoara. Experience included 12 variants, in three repetitions, placed after the randomized blocks method. Variants differ by herbicides applied. Efficacy of herbicides in control of species Avena fatua had values between 60-85%. The best herbicide used against Avena fatua proved to be Axial One EC (control rate 85%).

The purpose of the paper is to perform a topographic lifting and traction of an architectural project for the execution of a Tyrolean that is arranged on various relief forms, in a hilly area, halfway between Timisoara and Lugoj, Timis County, Romania. The development of an adventure park in an area so close to urban settlements has a great impact on the public of all age categories. Children are the main beneficiaries of such objectives because they test their minds and, at the same time, implement an active and healthy life rate. After the execution of this Tyrolean, the investment made will lead to the development of the area and its transformation into a tourist and leisure attraction point and the localities in the area will be an alternative for private investors or for the locals living in the city and wanting to settle in these localities. By building new opportunities for recreation, creating competitions and events, the development is acquired from many points of view: growing and establishing the population, bringing new investments and investors for the development of the area. The proposed Tyrolean is made up of 4-5 routes established according to the degree of difficulty proposed for different children�s age categories, at the same time ensuring the safety of the user and avoiding accidents, the routes being established only on the trees of certain ages and dimensions. In order to execute the topographic elevations, in order to achieve the situation plan, the state-of-the-art topographic, devices and methods adapted to the conditions of the field (covered with forest vegetation on most routes) were used.
