Thermolyse des anti-9,9 -Bi[ (1 a,2P,5 P,6a)-tricyclo[ 4.2.1 .0215]nona-3,7-dienyliden1-3,3' ,4,4'-tetracarbonsaure-tetramethylestersEine effiziente intramolekulare 1,4-Cyclohexandiyl-Abfangreaktion -Die im Zusammenhang mit der Photochemie interessierende Thermolyse des anti-Pentaen-tetraesters 1 wird untersucht. 1 geht bei 120°C unter Beteiligung von vier Bindungen einheitlich in den isomeren Octacyclus 4 uber. Aus dem Verhalten mehrerer Modellverbindungen (2, 10-14) wird geschlossen, dal3 die Umwandlung 1 -+ 4 rnit der 1,6-Uberbruckung in einem der ozthogonalen 1 ,SDiensegmente eingesetzt und iiber eine Kaskade stabilisierter Diradikale (5 -7) ablauft. Damit ist impliziert, da8 die 1 ,4-Diyl-Vorstufe der Cope-Reaktion (5) quantitativ intramolekular abgefangen wird. Ausgehend von 4 werden zwischen 160 und 210 "C rnit 21 und 24 -26 vier weitere konsekutiv gebildete hepta-bzw. hexacyclische Isomerisierungsprodukte isoliert. Davon ist die Struktur 24 durch Rontgenstrukturanalyse bewiesen. Thermolysis ofTetramethyl nnti-9,9'-Bi[(la,2~,5~,6a)-tricyclo[4.2.l.O*~5~nona-3,7-dienylidene]-3,3',4,4'-tetracarboxylate An Efficient Intramolecular 1,4-Cyclohexanediyl Interception -A Multistep Isomerisation SequenceThe thermolysis of the anti-pentaene-tetraester 1, which is of interest in connection with its photochemistry, is examined. At 120 "C 1 undergoes a uniform isomerisation with participation of four bonds to the octacycle 4. From the behaviour of several model compounds (2,lO-14) it is concluded that the transformation 1 -+ 4 begins with the 1,6-bridging between one of the orthogonal 1,5-diene segments and proceeds via a cascade of stabilised diradicals (5 -7). This implies a quantitative, intramolecular interception of the 1,4-diyl intermediate (5) of the Cope reaction. Starting from 4 four additional, consecutively formed hepta-and hexacyclic isomerisation products (21 and 24-26)'are isolated between 160 and 210°C.
