Zeolitic imidazolate framework 8 (ZIF‐8) reinforced macroporous resin D101 for selective solid‐phase extraction of 1‐naphthol and 2‐naphthol from phenol compounds

Abstract: Macroporous resin has been attracting intensive attention due to its critical role in separation and purification of natural products. Herein, a zeolitic imidazolate framework 8 reinforced macroporous resin D101 was prepared via a room temperature growth method and used for dispersive SPE of 1-naphthol and 2-naphthol. The parameters affecting the adsorption and desorption efficiency such as the sample pH, adsorbent amount, extraction time, desorption solvent, and desorption time were investigated. The as-prepa… Show more

“…68%/59% for ZIF‐8/717‐resin = 1:1/1:2 according to EDS element analysis (Table S1 and Figure S2). On the contrary, a previously reported D101‐resin @ZIF‐8 was prepared using in‐situ generation of ZIF‐8 particles within the pores of the D101‐resin, resulting in a relatively low loading amount of ZIF‐8 (0.43 wt % of Zn 2+ ) . Increasing the ratio of starting 717‐resin cannot effectively enhance the percentage of 717‐resin in the composite product.…”

So the ZIF-8/ 717-resin = 1:1 composite sample was chosen for the further investigation.…”

“…Using larger microbeads as a substrate for ZIF immobilization, smaller ZIF-8 crystals can be grown with no limitations to filter pore size or facing possible loss during sorbent recovery as when using them in direct mode (as described in Section 2). Commercial macroporous polymer ion-exchange beads have also been implemented as supports for ZIF immobilization [48]. The ZIF-8 crystals were in situ grown on the resin following the sequential addition of Zn(II) and 2methylimidazole.…”
