Wireless Health Data Exchange for Home Healthcare Monitoring Systems

Abstract: Ubiquitous home healthcare systems have been playing an increasingly significant role in the treatment and management of chronic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension, but progress has been hampered by the lack of standardization in the exchange of medical health care information. In an effort to establish standardization, this paper proposes a home healthcare monitoring system data exchange scheme between the HL7 standard and the IEEE1451 standard. IEEE1451 is a standard for special sensor networks, suc… Show more

“…ISO/IEC/IEEE21451 series standards received great attention from the beginning and having been developing since then [21,22]. At present these standards have been used in many fields including intelligent transportation, health management, internet of things, and ecological agriculture [23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30]. The reason why the authors choose ISO/IEC/IEEE21451 series standards in this paper is that they separate the sensor network and sensor function design and thus achieve interchangeability, interoperability, and scalability.…”

“…With standard data structure and communication protocol, so that the sensor can realize self identification, the "plug and play" and other functions [2][3][4] . The IEEE 1451 protocol are widely used in military, environmental monitoring, medical and other fields in recent years [5][6][7] . This paper will elaborate the principle, implementation of the wireless smart sensor module for infant incubator test.…”

“…U-Healthcare system can facilitate real-time monitoring of patient states, and can provide medical checkups and management whenever and wherever the medical staff deems necessary. The data is accessed by medical personnel using a client software [26]. However, thus far, the application of U-Healthcare systems has been limited to diseases such as obesity, diabetes, etc.…”
