Wide Dynamic Range CMOS Potentiostat for Amperometric Chemical Sensor

Abstract: Presented is a single-ended potentiostat topology with a new interface connection between sensor electrodes and potentiostat circuit to avoid deviation of cell voltage and linearly convert the cell current into voltage signal. Additionally, due to the increased harmonic distortion quantity when detecting low-level sensor current, the performance of potentiostat linearity which causes the detectable current and dynamic range to be limited is relatively decreased. Thus, to alleviate these irregularities, a fully… Show more

“…Many non‐invasive sensors to measure the concentration of biomarkers in readily available body fluids such as sweat, tears, and saliva are based on miniaturized, planar electrochemical cell technology. Figure a,b shows a simplified schematic of the working mechanism of these amperometric sensors . They usually consist of working (WE), counter (CE), and reference (RE) electrodes .…”

“…Recently, there has been an increasing interest in developing potentiostat application such as for metal corrosion analysis, environmental monitoring, quality control of food and medicines, biosensor, chemical sensor [1][2][3][4][5][6], and protein sensor for the waste dialysate material [7]. Gopinath and Russell (2006) have been successfully developing a low cost portable programmable potentiostat which using 10 bits ADC (analog to digital converter) [8].…”
