“…We found that micropigmentation was beneficial for patients with refractory vitiligo who had light to moderately colored skin (Fitzpatrick skin types III and IV). A few reports on the use of micropigmentation to treat vitiligo have appeared in the published work, but most patients treated had dark‐colored skin (Fitzpatrick skin types IV–VI): several articles discussed Indian patients and two articles described the treatment of patients of different races, including black, white, East Indians and Asians . Two studies from Japan and Thailand demonstrated the utility of camouflaging cover cream and dihydroxyacetone solution, respectively, but few studies have involved the use of micropigmentation to treat East Asian patients with light to moderately colored skin.…”

“…Certain areas such as lips, distal digits, elbows, knees, axillae and genitals are favorites for micro-pigmentation, as they are difficult to pigment even after long treatment for vitiligo. The patients sometimes are in a hurry and prefer micro-pigmentation to vitiligo surgery (175)(176)(177)(178), although the latter offers a more permanent solution (200,201). Non-allergenic ironoxide pigment is usually preferred.…”
