O vitiligo é uma doença cutânea crônica caracterizada por despigmentação da pele, sendo associada com desfiguração estética e considerável desconforto psicológico, representando grandes desafios em termos de cuidados dermatológicos. A partir do conhecimento do impacto psicossocial desta doença para o paciente e os desafios do seu tratamento pela medicina, este trabalho teve como objetivos destacar os principais aspectos etiopatogênicos do vitiligo, bem como, apresentar as opções terapêuticas atuais para o manejo da doença. Método: Revisão bibliográfica narrativa, utilizando-se as bases de dados Pubmed (US National Library of Medicine) e Portal Capes. A busca dos trabalhos foi realizada no ano de 2018, utilizando-se os seguintes Descritores em Ciências da Saúde: Vitiligo; Autoimunidade; Repigmentação; Tratamento Farmacológico; Fototerapia; Cosméticos; Cirurgia; Enxerto de tecido. Foram selecionados 26 artigos publicados no período de 2011 a 2018 que apresentaram conteúdos relacionados aos objetivos deste estudo. Resultados: O vitiligo desenvolve-se pela associação da predisposição genética e exposição a fatores ambientais. O tratamento tem o objetivo de limitar a progressão da doença, promover repigmentação das áreas afetadas e prevenir recidivas; podendo ser dividido em clínico, estético e cirúrgico. Os medicamentos tópicos, os sistêmicos, a fototerapia e os recentes imunobiológicos constituem tratamentos clínicos. O tratamento estético é representado pela camuflagem cosmética e o cirúrgico é indicado para aqueles que apresentam doença estável não responsiva a terapia clínica. Conclusão: O tratamento em geral é realizado pela associação de terapias, razão pela qual deve ser individualizado para cada paciente. O início precoce do tratamento está associado a um prognóstico mais favorável. Torna-se de extrema importância não negligenciá-lo além de conhecer inovações terapêuticas, tendo em vista o potencial estigmatizante da doença; melhorando assim a prática clínica e a qualidade de vida dos pacientes.

Tattooing is a process of implantation of permanent pigment granules in the skin. Tattoos can be decorative, medical or accidental. There has been a exponential increase in decorative tattooing as a body art in teenagers and young adults. Unfortunately there are no legislations to promote safe tattooing, hence complications are quite common. Superficial and deep local infections, systemic infections, allergic reactions, photodermatitis, granulomatous reactions and lichenoid reactions may occur. Skin diseases localised on the tattooed area, such as eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, and morphea can be occasionally seen. When used as a camouflage technique, colour mismatch and patient dissatisfaction are common complications. On the other hand, regrets after a tattoo are also seen and requests for tattoo removal are rising. Laser tattoo removal using Q-switched lasers are the safest; however, complications can occur. Acute complications include pain, blistering, crusting and pinpoint hemorrhage. Among the delayed complications pigmentary changes, hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation, paradoxical darkening of cosmetic tattoos and allergic reactions can be seen. Another common complication is the presence of residual pigmentation or ghost images. Scarring and textural changes are potential irreversible complications. In addition, tattoo removal can be a prolonged tedious procedure, particularly with professional tattoos, which are difficult to erase as compared to amateur tattoos. Hence the adage, stop and think before you ink holds very much true in the present scenario.

The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a corrective and photoprotective makeup for patients with dyschromias. An emulsion was prepared and pigment mixtures were incorporated in the formulation, producing five shades of corrective makeup: BEIGE (I, II, III), BRONZE and TAN. The sun protection factor (SPF) and UVA/UVB ratio of the corrective makeup were determined using spectrophotometry with a Labsphere ® analyser. The spreadability, occlusivity, stability, and photostability of the photoprotective formulations were also evaluated. For all formulations there was no statistical difference among them (p > 0.05) in terms of spreadability, occlusivity and SPF. They were considered to be photostable under solar radiation, with variations in SPF value and UVA/UVB ratio lower than 20%. The corrective makeup presented average-to-high UVB photoprotection and broad spectrum photoprotection. After 90 days, pH, density and SPF values showed no significant differences among formulations (p>0.05). All corrective makeup presented separation of the pigments, however, they returned to a homogeneous aspect and to the original color shade after shaking. The corrective makeup presented a fine texture, little brightness, and a homogeneous, dry-to-the-touch aspect. This work may benefit patients with dyschromias, improving their quality of life, besides promoting photoprotection and covering the skin blemishes.
