“…In previous studies, a mean VFQ-25 CS after RRD surgery of approximately 80 has been reported. 12,13 This is consistent with the mean CS of 80.02 in this study. Although the score is significantly lower than in normal controls (CS 85.5; P , 0.05), it still remains at a relatively high level, given a possible maximum of 100.…”

“…In contrast to our findings concerning the subscales, Okamoto et al reported lower results in near activities, distance activities, peripheral vision, dependency, and mental health in their studies on RRD patients. 12,13 Therefore, a general conclusion on affected subscores after RRD surgery cannot be drawn yet. In a study including patients with macula-off RRD only, Van de Put et al 30 found that a lower VR QOL was highly correlated with a worse postoperative BCVA and contrast acuity and to a lesser extent with color vision disturbances 12 months postoperatively.…”

“…Townley et al [9] reported reduced CS postoperatively after conventional laser in situ keratomileusis. Okamoto et al [10] demonstrated that CS decreased significantly after surgery for macular-on RRD without postoperative complications and abnormal OCT findings. Collectively, those findings indicate that surgical stress could cause a reduction in postoperative CS.…”

“…11 Recently metamorphopsia was reported in 67% of 31 eyes at 2 months after successful scleral buckling procedure for macula-off RD, and in 77% of these eyes TD-OCT showed an abnormal macular structure. 6 Both metamorphopsia and deterioration of contrast sensitivity 12 can disturb vision-related quality of life after RD surgery. In our six selected patients, AG evidenced different patterns of distorted lines that persisted up to 18 months.…”
