Utilization of standardless analysis algorithms using WDXRF and XRD for Egyptian iron ore identification

Abstract: On the basis of fundamental parameter approaches, the validity of standardless wavelength dispersive X‐ray fluorescence (WDXRF) and X‐ray powder diffraction algorithms was confirmed for analyzing Egyptian iron ore samples collected from two different locations, Aswan and Baharyia. The studied Egyptian iron ores represent different depositional environments and consequently exhibit variable mineralogical and chemical compositions. In the case of WDXRF analysis, the ground powders of iron ore samples were mixed … Show more

“…As mentioned in our previous work, the statistical analysis is important in order to detect the hidden structure and association of elements in the data set in an attempt to explain the influence of latent factors on the data distribution and to obtain information about the dispersion and the similarity between the obtained results (Shaltout et al, 2011;Shaltout et al, 2012a;Shaltout et al, 2012b). Based on the mathematical background of Pearson's correlation analysis, the correlation coefficient between the detected concentrations of each location was calculated.…”

“…Since the Mn К edge XANES spectra were recorded in the fluorescence mode, self absorption effects are clearly visible. The experimental spectra were therefore corrected using the Ifeffit Athena soft ware package [16]. Figure 3 shows the experimental absorption spectrum of manganese borohydride and the theoretical spectrum calculated for the structure obtained by XRD in [7].…”

“…All Jurassic ages are represented in the measured specimens. Hioki 3522-50 LCR instrument was used in the frequency range from 10 Hz up to 100 kHz (nearly 10 frequencies in each decade) with the help of non-polarizing electrodes (Cu/CuSO 4 ) (Gomaa, 2009;Shaltout et al, 2012).…”
