Relationships between electrical properties and petrography of El-Maghara sandstone formations, Egypt

Abstract: Realization of electrical and petrography of rocks is absolutely necessary for geophysical investigations. The petrographical, petrophysical and electrical properties of sandstone rocks (El-Maghara Formation, North Sinai, Egypt) will be discussed in the present work. The goal of this paper was to highlight interrelations between electrical properties in terms of frequency (conductivity, permittivity and impedance) and petrography, as well as mineral composition. Electrical properties including (conductivity an… Show more

“…Generally, semicircles mean that there is DC in addition to the AC conduction of the conductivity ( Kassab et al., 2017 ). Arcs decrease in size to be a fraction of semicircle due to the increase of conductor minerals ( Gomaa and Abou El-Anwar, 2019 ).…”

“…The equivalent circuit of impedance is presented in Figure 17, representing the attitude of specimens (Macdonald 1974;Kassab et al 2017). Here, C g and R 1 represent the bulk features of the bulk material (arc 3 in the impedance plane Figure 15(b)), i.e.…”

“…Conductivity, in general, has a monotonic attitude of increase with the successive increase of frequency. The permittivity, in general, has a tendency to increase with decrease of the frequency (Kassab et al 2017, Gomaa 2006.…”
