Using ANOVA to Examine the Relationship between Safety & Security and Human Development

Abstract: Using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), this study aimed to examine the relationship between safety and security index and human development. The sample consisted of 53 African countries. A one-way ANOVA was conducted to try to answer the research question (RQ): Does a statistical significant relationship exist between safety and security index and human development. The results indicated that there is a statistically significant relationship with strong effect size between safety and security index and hu… Show more

“…The HSD value is used to find a score in Tukey's critical value table (not shown here). If the calculated HSD is > Tukey's critical value, the means are statistically significant [23,24]. The one-way ANOVA determines whether there are any statistically significant differences between the means of more than one independent group of a categorical variable.…”

“…The F-ratio in the ANOVA Table tests whether the overall regression model is a good fit for the data (Sow, 2014). The test result revealed F-statistic of 276.171 which was significant at 0.05 (P<0.05) meaning that independent variables represented by strategic implementation has significant influence on the dependent variable represented by sustainability of community based tourism.…”

“…Farklılığın kaynağına yönelik olarak öncelikle varyansların homojen dağılım gösterip göstermediğine bakılır. Homojen dağılım gösteriyorsa Schefe, LSD, Tukey testleri, homojen dağılım göstermiyorsa Dunnet's C testi uygulanır (Sow, 2014). Her bir bireyin toplam tutum puanları göz önüne alınarak analiz yapılmıştır.…”
