Studying research fronts enables researchers to understand how their academic fields emerged, how they are currently developing and their changes over time. While topic modelling tools help discover themes in documents, they employ a "bag-of-words" approach and require researchers to manually label categories, specify the number of topics a priori, and make assumptions about word distributions in documents. This paper proposes an alternative approach based on entity linking, which links word strings to entities from a knowledge base, to help solve issues associated with "bag-of-words" approaches by automatically identifying topics based on entity mentions. To study topic trends and popularity, we use four indicators-Mann-Kendall's test, Sen's slope analysis, z-score values and Kleinberg's burst detection algorithm. The combination of these indicators helps us understand which topics are particularly active ("hot" topics), which are decreasing ("cold" topics or past "bursty" topics) and which are maturely developed. We apply the approach and indicators to the fields of Information Science and Accounting.

Purpose: This paper aims to better understand a large number of papers in the medical domain of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related diseases using the machine reading approach.Design/methodology/approach: The study uses the topic modeling method to obtain an overview of the field, and employs open information extraction to further comprehend the field at a specific fact level. Practical implications:This study uses the literature to answer specific questions on a scientific domain, which can help domain experts find interesting and meaningful relations among entities in a similar manner, such as to discover relations between AD and AIDS/HIV. Originality/value: Both the overview and specific information from the literature are obtained using two distinct methods in a complementary manner. This combination is novel because previous work has only focused on one of them, and thus provides a better way to understand an important scientific field using data-driven methods.

RESUMOEntender os problemas e desafios mundiais tem se tornado cada vez mais importante quando associamos a evolução tecnológica que tivemos nas últimas décadas com a necessidade de garantir sustentabilidade e/ou desenvolvimento sustentável deste processo. Neste contexto iremos explorar uma das dez áreas de atuação da Engenharia de Produção, a Engenharia da Sustentabilidade, a qual tem por objetivo o planejamento da utilização eficiente dos recursos naturais nos sistemas produtivos diversos, a destinação e o tratamento dos resíduos e efluentes destes sistemas, bem como da implantação de sistema de gestão ambiental e responsabilidade social. Deste modo o artigo aborda o tema sustainable management (gestão sustentável) através de um estudo bibliométrico, com a análise de metadados de 63008 documentos indexados ao Web of Science, publicados entre 1980 e 2018. Com os resultados obtidos foi possível estabelecer uma categorização das publicações acerca do tema gestão sustentável, compreendendo possíveis padrões de comportamento. Através do mapeamento proposto, obtém-se um cenário de evolução expressiva do tema ao longo do tempo, e espera-se que as lacunas identificadas possam fomentar novas pesquisas a alavancar ainda mais a sustainable management, tanto na academia, quanto de forma prática pelo mercado. ABSTRACTThe understanding of global problems and challenges has become increasingly important when we associate the technological evolution that we have had in recent decades with the need to guarantee the sustainability and / or sustainable development of this process. In this context, we will explore one of the ten areas of production engineering, Sustainability Engineering, which aims to plan the efficient use of natural resources in various production systems, the disposal and treatment of waste and effluent from these systems, as well as the implementation of a environmental management system and social responsibility. In this way, the article addresses the theme sustainable management (sustainable management) through a bibliometric study, with a metadata analysis of 63008 documents indexed to the Web of Science, between 1980 and 2018. mangam, understand the patterns of behavior. Through the proposed mapping, a scenario of evolution of the time theme is obtained over time, and it is expected that the gaps can be used as new tools for the sustainable management of sustainable management, both in the academy and in the way practice by the market.
