A.Einleitung 1934 veroffentlichten Eu.
The reaction generally leads to the permethylated metal compound, which can be converted into industrially important methylmetal chlorides. The latter, e.g. methyl chlorosilanes, can probably also be obtained directly, if the reaction is allowed to proceed for a long time under pressure and in the presence of an excess of the metal halide, but this process is only semi-continuous [27J. Dedicated to Wilhelm Klemm in memory of the work done together The paper describes the application and limitations of magnetic methods to the problems of free-radical chemistry (detection and quantitative investigation of the free-radical state, relationships between structure and free-radical formation, "distribution" of the unpaired electron, detection of mesomeric C, 0, N, P, As, and Sn radicals, g-factors, triplet states, and hyperjine structure). The problem of the diradical is described, and the paper closes with a discussion of the "Selwood efect".Since only one attempt 131 to determine the paramagnetism of a free radical had been published prior to this paper, it was necessary first to lay the foundations of the magnetochemistry of free radicals. This work was carried out between 1933 and 1936 in Danzig in collaboration with I. Miiller-Rodlof, W. Bunge, W. Wiesemann, and F.Teschner. The Gouy balance was used for the determination of the paramagnetism.[l] With the co-operation of Dr. M. Bauer and Dr.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
