Two New Records of Oribatula (Zygoribatula) Species (Acari: Oribatida) from Turkey, with Redescriptions

Abstract: The oribatid mite fauna of Turkey is still relatively poorly known. The present paper adds two species of oribatid mites to the known Turkish fauna viz., Oribatula (Zygoribatula) debilitranslamellata (Kulijev, 1962) and O. (Z.) exilis (Nicolet, 1855). Both species are characterised by large, prominent lamellar cusps, with the lamellar setae inserted apically on the cusps, and by the presence of distinct translamellae. They can be distinguished, however, by the smaller lamellae, absence of cuspidal teeth, narro… Show more

“…However, the systematic value of this morphological character in Brachypylina seems to be minor. For example, O. tibialis (Nicolet, 1855) lacks seta p 3 in the nymphs and adult , whereas many species of Oribatula Berlese, 1895 andZygoribatula Berlese, 1916 have this seta (Grobler 1993(Grobler , 1994Grobler and Kok 1993;Grobler et al 2005). The nymphs of Hydrozetes longisetosus S. and A. Seniczak 2009 have all setae of p-series, but the adults may lack pair p 3 , and sometimes retain one seta p 3 unilaterally (Seniczak and Seniczak 2009).…”
