Triazine Compound as Copolymerized Antibacterial Agent in Adhesive Resins

Abstract: The aim of this study was to formulate and evaluate an experimental adhesive resin with the addition of 1,3,5-triacryloylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazine at different concentrations. Experimental adhesive resins were obtained by mixing 50% wt bisphenol A glycol dimethacrylate (BisGMA), 25% wt triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA), 25% wt 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and photoinitiator system. The triazine compound was added in 1, 2.5 and 5% wt to a base adhesive resin and one group remained with no triazine… Show more

“…This event possibly leads to a disruption of bacteria membrane and loss of intracellular components, as previously shown for other QACs [28]. In this study, G α-TCPTAT reduced bacterial growth on the surface of the polymerized samples compared to G CTRL , corroborating to previous analyses of TAT in resins [7][8][9]. G α-TCPTAT also reduced the number of planktonic bacteria, similar to other studies with copolymerized QAC [29].…”

“…TAT has been used to synthesize materials with better chemical and physical properties [7,8]. In the current study, the Knoop hardness and the softening in solvent, which can be related to polymers' crosslinking density, showed no differences between groups.…”

“…24 The incorporation of PHMGH into resin sealants could result in a material with antibacterial properties without affecting other properties. 2,7 The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of PHMGH in the physico-chemical properties and antibacterial activity of an experimental resin sealant. The null hypothesis tested for the present study was that the addition of PHMGH does not influence the resin sealant properties.…”
