The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of an innovative 'practice education program utilizing error reporting' on nursing students' immersion in practice, learning satisfaction, and confidence in executing fundamental nursing skills. Conducted over two days (November 28-29, 2022), this descriptive research engaged 110 second-year nursing students from a university in City S. The program, encompassing 24 sessions, each lasting an hour, culminated in debriefings and reflective exercises. Methodologically, the study employed an array of statistical tools, including independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Cheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Key findings revealed a significant positive correlation between confidence in core nursing skill execution and practice immersion (r=.259, p=.006), as well as between practice immersion and learning satisfaction (r=.266, p=.005). Notably, practice immersion emerged as a pivotal factor influencing core nursing skill performance confidence (β=.272, p=.006), underscoring that heightened immersion positively impacts skill confidence. These insights suggest the need for ongoing program development, reinforced education, and heightened awareness around error prevention and reporting, to further augment nursing education outcomes.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess exposure to traumatic events, knowledge and attitudes concerning post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the level of resilience among nurses and paramedics working in emergency departments. Methods: Data were collected from May 22 to June 12, 2022, using a self-administered survey questionnaire. The participants comprised 135 nurses and 80 paramedics working in emergency departments. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, a t-test, and an analysis of variance with Scheffé’s test. Results: Compared with emergency room nurses, paramedics were more positive about the government’s spending on job opportunities for people with PTSD. There were no significant differences in attitude regarding government strategies and people with PTSD between nurses and paramedics. Paramedics had higher scores on the effective treatment for PTSD, while emergency room nurses showed higher scores on effective psychotherapy. General knowledge of PTSD differed according to sex (t=-2.33, p=.021) and education level (F=3.21, p=.042). Resilience scores differed significantly according to sex (t=2.02, p=.045), education level (F=4.10, p=.018), self-reported economic state (F=10.34, p<.001), and self-reported health (F=11.57, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings support that emergency department nurses and paramedics are in need of self-care programs to support their mental health and indicate that intervention programs should be developed to enhance resilience in emergency department professionals.

Purpose: This study’s aim was to confirm the importance and performance of the clinical practice of nurses working in the general wards of a tertiary hospital and to analyze their educational needs.Methods: The study employed a descriptive research design, and a self-reported questionnaire was developed and used for nurses in a tertiary hospital. Data were collected from July 22 to July 29, 2022, analyzed by an independent t-test, paired t-test, and one-way ANOVA for the importance and performance of each clinical nursing practice according to general characteristics, and then a post hoc verification was performed by Scheffé’s test. An Importance-Performance Analysis and Borich needs assessment model were used to analyze clinical nursing education needs.Results: Clinical nursing practice performance showed a significant difference according to length of total clinical career, time working in current department, and preceptor experience. According to the results of the Importance-Performance Analysis, neurological evaluation, and nursing intervention, artificial respirator and high-flow oxygen inhalation nursing, chemotherapy, emergency nursing, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation were identified as belonging to the “concentrate here” quadrant. All these items ranked in the top 10 in the Borich needs assessment model.Conclusion: Based on these results, the current education system should be reviewed, and short and long term education strategies based on educational needs should be established to strengthen the competence of nurses.
