Background/AimMost of the previous studies in the available literature discussed the time of arrival in general to the healthcare system, while a minority studied the relationship between the type of trauma and arrival. The aim of this retrospective study is to assess the arrival time of traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) depending on the urgency of treatment according to Andreasen.Materials and MethodsThis 8‐year retrospective study was carried out at the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University Dental Clinic in Zagreb, Croatia. Andreasen's classification was used to define the kind of TDI as well as to divide them by the need for urgent treatment or treatment priorities in three groups: acute, subacute, and delayed.ResultsThe sample consisted of 1040 children (59% male and 41% female) with a median age of 7. Each year, the age group most affected by TDIs was 6–12 years old. While there is a general increase in the prevalence of TDIs overall, there is a decline in TDIs among children aged 6–12 and an increase among preschoolers and adolescents (below 6 and above 12 years old). Throughout the years, 52.73% red/acute and 41.16% yellow/subacute TDIs were not treated on time due to delayed arrival. More patients from Zagreb come in the first 24 h, while more patients from outside Zagreb come to the clinic a month or more after their injuries. Patients which suffered TDI accompanied with soft‐tissue injury arrived sooner.ConclusionsIt is necessary to introduce monitoring and education of patients under the age of 6 and over 12, as well as their parents/caregivers. New programs should be implemented and new referent centers that specialize in treating TDIs outside of Zagreb should be established.

Background/Aim: Individuals exposed to trauma are most often brought or directed to the nearest healthcare facility by their relatives. In Turkey, most widely available healthcare services are provided by family physicians at primary care Family Health Centers and patients expect receiving treatment for TDI from medical doctors when they do not immediate access to a dentist. The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge and attitude about traumatic dental injuries among family physicians working at family health centersin Turkey. Material and methods: A total of 110 family physicians participated in the study. Participants were family physicians who attended a meeting organized by Elazığ Provincial Directorate of Health. A self-administered questionnaire consisting of 16 multiple choice questions assessing both demographic data, knowledge and attitude about traumatic dental injuries was distributed to family physicians during the meeting.Results: The results obtained from 86 fully responded questionnaire forms, %75 of family physicians didn't receive any education on TDI. 86% of Family physicians feel that they don't have adequate knowledge about TDI. 53.5% of the family physicians reported that they have come across patients with TDI at least once at their practice. 39.5% of the physicians did not know the importance of extra-oral time. Sterile sponge was selected as the best transport media for avulsed tooth by 22.6% of the participants. Regarding physicians’ attitude, 75% think that education should be provided in medical schools about TDI.Conclusions: This study revealed that the majority of family physicians lack the knowledge needed to manage avulsion and crown fracture cases. Hence, educational programs are necessary during and after medical training for family physicians to provide proper management for traumatic dental injuries.

Ö ÖZ ZE ET T A Am ma aç ç: : Bu çalışma; Kahramanmaraş il merkezi yakınlarındaki Suriye mülteci kampında ikamet eden mülteci çocuklardaki diş çürüğü prevalansını belirlemek, DMF(T) ve df(t) skorlarını saptamak, çürük dağılımının yaş ve cinsiyete göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğini incelemek ve elde edilen bulguların olası sonuçlarını değerlendirmek amacıyla planlanmıştır. G Ge er re eç ç v ve e Y Yö ön nt te em ml le er r: : Kahramanmaraş'taki Suriye mülteci kampının ilkokulunda, 3-7 Ağustos 2015 tarihleri arasında, 0-12 yaş aralığındaki çocukların muayeneleri yapılmıştır. Muayene işlemi; okul ortamında, doğal ışık altında çocuğun yatırıldığı pozisyonda (speen position) ayna ve sond kullanılarak, deneyimli bir diş hekimi gözetiminde kalibre edilmiş 4 adet diş hekimliği öğrencisi tarafından Dünya Sağlık Örgütü kriterleri doğrultusunda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tedavi edilmiş ve edilmemiş diş çürükleri ile çürükle-rin bulunduğu diş yüzeylerini, tedavi gereksinimlerini ve koruyucu uygulamaları içeren bulgular önceden hazırlanmış formlara yaş, cinsiyet ve dişlenmeye göre kaydedilmiştir. B Bu ul lg gu ul la ar r: : Toplam 208 (85'i kız, 123'ü erkek) çocuk muayene edilmiştir. Toplam DMF(T) df(t) 1,68 (±2,89) olarak hesaplanmıştır. Süt dişlerine ait df(t) değeri 3,9 (±3,09), daimi dişlere ait DMF(T) değeri ise 0,77 (±1,48) olarak hesaplanmıştır. 0-5 yaş ve 6-12 yaşlarındaki çocuklara ait prevalans değerleri sırasıyla %17 ve %32 olarak belirlenmiştir. Anlamlı çürük indeksi sonucu bulunan toplam değer 4,37'dir. 6-12 yaş için anlamlı çürük indeksi 4,69; 0-5 yaş için ise 3,74 olarak bulunmuştur.
