“…He found that nearly half of the patients he tested had nonrefractive visual abnormalities associated with the defect, and he pointed out the prenatal origin of the condition, suggesting that it represents a form of segmental hypoplasia. These true visual field defects [143][144][145][146] are frequently superotemporal 145,147 and this must be remembered in the evaluation of the visual fields when there is no neurological cause found for the defect. Tilted optic discs may also be mistaken for mild papilloedema.…”

“…15,16 Eğik diskli gözlerde saptanan görme alanı kayıpları, en sık süperotemporal kadranda olmakla birlikte, merkezi görme dışındaki bölgelerde de yer alabilmektedir. 17 Görme alanının tüm bölgelerinde görülen retina hassasiyetindeki azalma, eğik disklerin temelinde optik sinir hipoplazisi olduğuna dair öne sürülen varsayımı desteklemektedir. 17 Görme alanında yaygın daralmaya sebep olan defektler, diskin rotasyon aksına uymayabilmektedir.…”

“…A commonly observed problem with tilted disc is the detection of early glaucomatous damage. Both are associated with visual field defects, and tilted disc morphology is a finding in optic disc rim eva luation; its presence makes identification of the usual signs of glaucomatous damage, such as pathological cupping, difficult to detect (23,24) . We may say that the presence of a small visual field defect in a patient with an inferior tilted disc and superior RNFL loss is most probably related to tilted disc morphology instead of glaucomatous optic neuropathy; however, this argument needs to be proven by large-scale studies comparing visual fields in both glaucoma and tilted disc groups.…”
