Thermal insulation: operational properties and methods of research

Abstract: Construction system consists of materials with different properties. The use of materials in the design should ensure maximum of its performance and its durability. The use of thermal insulation materials is an effective way to form the thermal envelope of a building, reducing energy costs and increasing the durability of building structures. The properties of materials are determined by their structure, which is formed in the process of technological influences. Formation of the insulating shell of oil and ga… Show more

“…The mineral wool blanket was heat treated by suction of the heat carrier (air heated to 200-240°C) through the blanket layer. In this case, moisture is evaporated from the blanket and the binder is cured [13][14][15][16]. The purpose of the heat treatment is to stabilize the structure of the blanket by curing the binder, which occurs as a result of polycondensation reactions.…”

“…During the Second World War, research and technological work were dis-continued everywhere with the exception of the United States. This allowed the United States to master the large-scale production of foam glass, mainly for the needs of the Navy, and then for many years to become a leader in the production and research of this technology [7][8][9].…”

“…Technological processes are organized in such a way as to minimize the negative impact on the environment. Saving heat by reducing losses through an insulating jacket should, in an economically feasible time, recoup the energy costs of manufacturing materials and installing them in insulation systems [11][12][13]. Products from unstitched expanded polyethylene (pipes, rolls, sheets) have been used as insulation since the beginning of the 90s and now we have gained sufficient experience for use of them.…”
