Theory for optical activity in monolayer black phosphorus under external magnetic field

Abstract: We derive an analytical model for calculating the optical activity in monolayer black phosphorus under an external magnetic field. By optimizing the parameters, the circular dichroism can be comparable to that in previously reported chiral metamaterials in a broad angle range. Besides, the optical activity including the circular dichroism, the circular conversion dichroism and the circular birefringence can be tuned almost linearly via changing the applied magnetic field magnitude. These results show that our … Show more

“…[12][13][14][15] To obtain the strong chirality, many effective methods have been proposed. [16][17][18][19][20][21] Wang et al designed a chiral structure combining bilayer of anisotropic metamaterial structures. Moreover, in that work it was proposed and proved that the destroying of the rotational and mirror symmetry simultaneously is the necessary condition for chiral structures through the framework of Jones calculus.…”
