“…As stated in the introduction, no isolated lines of Si ix were observed using beam-foil methods (Trabert et al 1979(Trabert et al , 1982Mosnier et al 1986). The main reasons are that it is difficult to generate these K-vacancy states since the needed energies are usually higher than the ion ionization energy, and the high auto-ionization rates of these K-vacancy states depress the production of fluorescence yielding, thus these K-lines from Si ix are relatively very weak.…”
