The characteristics of the speech that begins with identifying the crisis, exploring the nation's values, and promising solutions through change and a participatory attitude are characteristics inherent in the Puritan Jeremiad structure (Smith & Smith, 1994). Although there are differences in the substance of jeremiad, the structure of thought in President Trump's speech appears similar to that of jeremiad.…”
