The Study of Fuzzy Proportional Integral Controllers Based on Improved Particle Swarm Optimization for Permanent Magnet Direct Drive Wind Turbine Converters

Abstract: In order to meet the requirements of high precision and fast response of permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) wind turbines, this paper proposes a fuzzy proportional integral (PI) controller associated with a new control strategy for wind turbine converters. The purpose of the control strategy is to achieve the global optimization for the quantization factors, k e and k ec , and scale factors, k up and k ui , of the fuzzy PI controller by an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) method. Thus the advantage… Show more

“…In addition, if the proposed technical evaluation function is used to optimally select and place the SFCLs in the micro-grid, the optimization objective is to make the integrated function value be the smallest, and the SFCLs' current-limiting impedances, access locations and installation quantities will be constrained by certain conditions. Due to the use of an intelligent algorithm, such as particle swarm optimization (PSO) [56,57], the optimization results can be selectively obtained. As this paper's main objective is to do the technical evaluation and provide a quantitative comparison, the detailed optimization works will be performed and reported in later articles.…”

“…For instance, in [38], the PSO is introduced for wind turbine converters, in [39,40] for photovoltaic systems, in [41] for neural networks training, in [42] for DC/DC converter, in [43][44][45] for energy management, in [46] for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) management and control, in [47] for clustering, and so on. The results shown in all these works confirm that an optimization through the PSO can lead to valuable advantages regarding the performance of approaches based on a fuzzy controller.…”
