Following procedures developed in previous studies of mercury-supported LFs, 1,[17][18][19][20][21] the trough was cleaned before each sample with isopropanol and chloroform, and the enclosure was sealed, and purged for 30 minutes by gas ow to remove solvent vapour. The trough was then lled with mercury through a capillary from a reservoir mounted on top of the sealed enclosure.…”
