“…Correspondingly, there is a low incidence of multiple pregnancies (<6%) and OHSS (<1%) (67,80,110,111). These results compare favorably to the unacceptable high risk of multiple follicular development, multiple pregnancies (36%), and severe OHSS (4.6%) reported for conventional dose protocols (112).…”

“…The results of five recent studies with R500 cycles that used minimal stimulation with initial doses of 37.5-75 IU FSH or hMG for a combined total of 8,370 cycles are presented in Table 5 (49)(50)(51)(52)(53). Clinical pregnancy rates ranged from 10% to 20% per cycle, equal to or exceeding pregnancy rates reportedfrom recent large series of COH-IUI (9,39).…”

“…In modern series of R4,000 cycles or R1,800 pregnancies, twin implantations range from 15% to 20% and HOMP from 5.7% to 8.8% when the initial dose of FSH or hMG is 150 IU or greater (9,26,39). In series of R500 cycles using minimal stimulation initial doses of 37.5-75 IU FSH or hMG, twin implantations ranged from 6% to 15% and HOMP from 0 to 1.3% (49)(50)(51)(52)(53).…”
