Objetivo: Caracterizar a técnica de craniopuntura japonesa como instrumento para o tratamento da dor não específica em profissionais de saúde. Método: Estudo do tipo antes e depois. O cenário foi uma instituição pública de saúde, de assistência em nível primário. O processo de coleta dos dados ocorreu por um período de 4 semanas, totalizando 8 sessões. Foi utilizada a Escala Visual/verbal Numérica antes e após a sessão. Os dados foram analisados com auxílio do programa Bioestat 5.3. Resultados: Foi composto por 7 sujeitos, aproximadamente 41% do total dos profissionais da equipe que compõem o cenário do estudo. A técnica de craniopuntura japonesa auxiliou na redução da dor (p=0,009) em 100% dos participantes deste estudo. Conclusão: A craniopuntura japonesa foi eficaz em todas as sessões, na redução da dor não específica dos sujeitos do estudo.Descritores: Enfermagem, Saúde do Trabalhador, Terapias Complementares, Acupuntura.

Objectives: Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture is a quick and effective microsystem of acupuncture used for treating various symptoms for which the somatotopic area is the scalp. This article describes Parietal Acupoint Therapy (PAPT), which is another approach, using a different scalp somatotopy, and to evaluate PAPT's effect on neck/shoulder stiffness and related mood disturbances. Materials and Methods: Subjects: Forty-six volunteers suffering from chronic neck/shoulder stiffness with various symptoms (headache, dizziness, and related mood disturbance) participated in this study and were randomly divided into 2 groups: treatment (26 subjects) and control (20 subjects). Interventions: PAPT, PC points, and PL points were used. Outcome Measures: Immediately before and after treatment, to evaluate the patients' psychobiologic and mood states, salivary alpha amylase (sAA) levels were determined and the Profile of Mood States Second Edition (POMS 2)-Short Form scale was administered. Neck/shoulder stiffness was evaluated using a visual analogue scale (VAS) score immediately before and after, and at 3 and 7 days post-therapy. Results: sAA levels were not significantly different in either group after versus before the intervention. There were significant decreases in mean scores in the POMS 2 subscales Anger/Hostility (P < 0.001), Confusion/Bewilderment (P < 0.001), Depression/Dejection (P < 0.01), Fatigue/Inertia (P < 0.001), Tension/Anxiety (P < 0.001), and Total Mood Disturbance (P < 0.001) post-therapy in the treatment group, but not in the control group. The mean VAS score significantly improved in the treatment group post-therapy, which persisted during the observation period. Conclusions: PAPT treatment on PC points ameliorated neck/shoulder stiffness and related mood disturbance. PAPT has the potential to be as effective as other scalp acupuncture types.

Objective. To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture moxibustion therapy (AMT) for the breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL). Methods. Four English databases (MEDLINE, PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane CENTRAL) and four Chinese databases were searched from their inception to Feb 1, 2020. Eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating AMT against any type of controlled intervention in patients for BCRL and assessing clinically relevant outcomes (total effective rate, circumference difference, and Karnofsky performance score) were included. The methodological quality of all selected trials was estimated in accordance with the guidelines published by the Cochrane Collaboration. Review Manager 5.3 was used to conduct analyses. Results. Twelve eligible RCTs are confirmed. Most of the trials selected are regarded as low methodological quality. Compared with Western medicine, physiotherapy, and functional training, traditional AMT has significantly higher treatment effect (RR 1.03 (95% CI: 1.22, 1.45); p<0.00001). In comparison with physiotherapy, AMT is better in reducing edema symptoms (MD = −0.77; 95% CI (−1.13–0.41); p<0.00001). Moreover, pooled results demonstrate that AMT results in better outcomes than functional training and Western medicine in improving Karnofsky performance score of BCRL patients (SMD = 0.69; 95% CI (0.38–1.00); p<0.00001). Conclusion. This systematic review and meta-analysis provides evidence that AMT is serviceable and safe in treating BCRL. With the limited number of available studies and methodology drawbacks, further high-quality RCTs with reasonable designs are still warranted.
