Policies around the world increasingly call for teachers to become 'agents of change', often linked to social justice agendas. However, there is little clarity about the kind of competencies such agency involves or how it can be developed in teacher education. This paper draws on theories of teacher agency and inclusive pedagogy to clarify the meaning of teachers as agents of change in the context of inclusion and social justice. Inclusive practice requires the collaboration of teachers and others such as families and other professionals. Agents of change work purposefully with others to challenge the status quo and develop social justice and inclusion. We discuss the possibilities of combining theories of inclusive pedagogy and teacher agency for developing teachers as agents of inclusion and social justice in teacher education. These possibilities include: 1) nurturing commitment to social justice as part of teachers' sense of purpose; 2) developing competencies in inclusive pedagogical approaches, including working with others; 3) developing relational agency for transforming the conditions of teachers' workplaces; and 4) a capacity to reflect on their own practices and environments when seeking to support the learning of all students.

Χαρακτηρίστηκε μάλιστα ως ακόμα μια μορφή διαχωρισμού, αφού η γενικότερη αντίληψη εξακολουθούσε να θεωρεί ότι τα παιδιά με ειδικές ανάγκες έχουν το 'πρόβλημα' και το σχολείο τα αποδέχεται κάνοντας κάποιες απαραίτητες διευθετήσεις, οι οποίες έχουν διαχωριστικό χαρακτήρα (Allan, 2006). (Barnes, 1997). Ακολούθησαν διαχωριστικές πρακτικές, σύμφωνα με τις οποίες τα παιδιά με ειδικές ανάγκες ήταν καλύτερα να εκπαιδεύονται σε ειδικά σχολεία από εξειδικευμένα άτομα. Η ένταξη, αν και αρχικά αποτέλεσε ελπιδοφόρα διέξοδο για την παροχή ισότιμης εκπαίδευσης σε όλα τα παιδιά, στην πορεία αμφισβητήθηκε. Χαρακτηρίστηκε μάλιστα ως ακόμα μια μορφή διαχωρισμού, αφού η γενικότερη αντίληψη εξακολουθούσε να θεωρεί ότι τα παιδιά με ειδικές ανάγκες έχουν το 'πρόβλημα' και το σχολείο τα αποδέχεται κάνοντας κάποιες απαραίτητες διευθετήσεις, οι οποίες έχουν διαχωριστικό χαρακτήρα (Allan, 2006). Σκοπός της έρευνας είναι να μελετηθούν οι απόψεις, η γνώση και οι αντιλήψεις των εκπαιδευτικών γενικής τάξης σχετικά με την ένταξη και πως νιώθουν σχετικά με την υπάρχουσα γνώση και εφαρμογή της ένταξης οι εκπαιδευτικοί. Στην παρούσα έρευνα χρησιμοποιείται τόσο η ποσοτική, όσο και η ποιοτική μεθοδολογία έρευνας. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, έγινε συνδυασμός της ημι-δομημένης συνέντευξης σε 4 εκπαιδευτικούς δημοτικής εκπαίδευσης και της χρήσης ερωτηματολογίου σε 40 ακόμα διαφορετικούς εκπαιδευτικούς δημοτικής εκπαίδευσης που συμμετείχαν στην έρευνα. Ο συνδυασμός και των δύο μεθόδων έγινε ώστε να ερευνηθεί πολύπλευρα το θέμα. Τα αποτελέσματα που προέκυψαν μέσα από το ερωτηματολόγιο και την ημι-δομημένη συνέντευξη φανερώνουν ότι, οι εκπαιδευτικοί τείνουν να αντιμετωπίζουν τις ειδικές εκπαιδευτικές ανάγκες κάποιων παιδιών με γνώμονα το ιατρικό και φιλανθρωπικό μοντέλο, εκφράζουν απόψεις που στηρίζονται στο διαχωρισμό και την κατηγοριοποίηση και θεωρούν ως κύριο σκοπό της ένταξη την κοινωνικοποίηση των μαθητών. Επίσης, οι εκπαιδευτικοί γνωρίζουν πολύ λίγα για την ισχύουσα νομοθεσία της ένταξης, ωστόσο δείχνουν να είναι ικανοποιημένοι από την ικανότητά τους να εφαρμόζουν την ένταξη, αισθάνονται σε κάποιο βαθμό ικανοποίηση από την ικανότητά τους να κάνουν διαφοροποίηση και να συνεργάζονται με όλους τους εμπλεκόμενους φορείς για την ένταξη, ενώ αντίθετα νιώθουν πολύ ικανοποιημένοι από την ικανότητά τους να προωθούν την κοινωνικοποίηση των παιδιών με ειδικές ανάγκες. The article represented theoretic analysis of the literature on the problem of psychological and pedagogic support of disabled children. It defined the following terms: a successfully adapting disabled child, a model, interaction of specialists, psychological and pedagogic support. The article also determined the key components of a successfully adapting disabled child: personal (includes such features as confidence, adequate self-esteem, and emotional well-being), academic (elementary ideas about himself and the world around, mathematical ideas, grammar basics), and life (general educational, communicative, social and every day knowledge and skills). Besides, it offered a model of interaction between specialists in psychological and pedagogic support of disabled children. The following interrelated components represented the model: the purpose component, the content-related component, the procedural component, and the evaluative and effective component. The article represented the results of the ascertaining, forming, in the control experiment where the evidence indicated that the personality model of a successfully adapting disabled child was developed by the interaction of various specialists (a resource teacher, a speech and language pathologist, and an educational psychologist).
