The Reliability and Validity of a Spanish Translated Version of the Gifted Rating Scales

Abstract: This study was a preliminary examination of the psychometric properties of a newly developed Spanish translated version of the Gifted Rating Scales-School Form (GRS-S). Data was collected from elementary and middle schools in northeastern Puerto Rico. Thirty teachers independently rated 153 students using the GRS-S Spanish Form. Results indicated strong internal consistency for teacher ratings with alphas ranging from .98 to .99. Intercorrelations between scales are moderate to strong, ranging from .88 to .97.… Show more

“…Future work may consider replication of the findings from this study across independent samples for both the English version, as well as other translations of the GRS-S (D. Lee & Pfeiffer, 2006; Li et al, 2008; Rosado et al, 2008), and parent forms of the GRS-S. That a variety of models provided good fit to the GRS-S suggests that future studies may wish to better understand how the viable alternative models perform when considering questions of measurement invariance across sex, age groups, and other student demographic differences. It would be important to corroborate the present findings with translated versions of the GRS-S in other cultures.…”

“…Em relação a este último instrumento, suas versões traduzidas e adaptadas para diferentes países também apresentaram a mesma estrutura fatorial. Na versão em espanhol (Rosado, Pfeiffer, & Petscher, 2008) seis fatores foram encontrados por meio da análise fatorial confirmatória. A versão americana também indicou a adequação do modelo composto por seis escalas (Li, Lee, Pfeiffer, & Petscher, 2008;Margulies & Floyd, 2004;Pfeiffer & Blei, 2008;.…”

“…Lestvice so zanesljive in veljavne, kar potrjujejo različne študije (npr. Li idr., 2008b;Rosado, Pfeiffer in Petscher, 2008). Avtorja izvirnih lestvic poročata o zadovoljivi sočasni veljavnosti na podlagi primerjave ocen z že obstoječimi pripomočki za ocenjevanje sposobnosti in nadarjenosti (Pfeiffer in Jarosewich, 2003), kriterijsko veljavnost lestvic pa so npr.…”
