The Relationship between University Students' Music Preferences and Drug Abuse Tendencies and Personality Traits

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine whether music preferences differ in terms of drug abuse tendencies and personality traits with regard to the type of music that music teacher candidates listen to. “…According to scientific and theoretical criteria, the preparedness for music therapy is determined by the possession of professionally significant knowledge for music therapy; according to the technological criterion-the development of a complex of skills to implement professional functions for conducting music therapy; on a personal basis-the presence of professionally important qualities to conduct music therapy (Luban-Plozza and Verdeau-Pailles, 1994). When diagnosing the preparedness to conduct music therapy, the following criteria are selected: comprehensiveness of theoretical knowledge about music therapy, the style of therapeutic interaction, integration of forms of interaction with patients with depressive conduct disorder, a pragmatic criterion for assessing skills, and abilities in organizing interaction with patients (Altun et al, 2018).
