The Quality of Four-Tier Diagnostic Test Misconception Instrument for Parabolic Motion

Abstract: This study aims to find out how the process of developing instrument products in the form of a four-tier diagnostic test on parabolic motion material, and to find out how the quality of a four-tier diagnostic test instrument product on parabolic motion material was developed. The test subjects were all high school students of class X MIPA, taken by purposive sampling, namely 60 students in the first phase of the trial and 134 students for the 2nd phase of the trial. of 0,3 which means valid. The instrument rel… Show more

“…This four-tier test format instrument is used to diagnose students' level of conception of a chemical concept, but this instrument is rarely used. In addition, the four-tier diagnostic test is the best current test instrument for measuring misconceptions because it can measure respondents' misconceptions accurately so that conclusions drawn are free from errors and lack of knowledge (Maison, Kurniawan, & Widowati, 2021).…”

“…This indicates that most students have a good understanding of the concepts related to the topic of plant reproduction. The evidence for this is seen in their ability to answer the questions correctly in tier I, demonstrate appropriate reasoning in tier III, and exhibit a high level of confidence in selecting their answers (Agus & Sari, 2021). They are able to apply their knowledge effectively and have confidence in their responses.…”

“…Obtained on the parabolic motion material shows the lowest average of other materials. In line with this, students also experience misconceptions about parabolic motion material by assuming the time required for a heavy ball is less because the greater the mass of an object, the greater the gravitational attraction [10,11], and consider objects with heavier masses will travel a total displacement, which is closer to the launch point when compared to lighter mass objects [10,12]. Learning outcomes data from the daily assessment are presented in Table 1.…”
