SummaryIn this retrospective study of gestation and epilepsy there was little change in fit frequency during pregnancy but a significant number of women had seizures during labour and the early post‐partum period. Obstetrical complications, babies' birth weights and perinatal mortality were analysed. Comparisons were made within the populations of Leicestershire. The fetal malformation rate was no higher than the expected frequency for our patients, but there was a three‐fold increase in the perinatal mortality rate against the control population.
