The News Norms and Values of Presidential Debate Agendas: An Analysis of Format and Moderator Influence on Question Content

Abstract: Mediated debates provide audiences with invaluable campaign information, and the public does in fact learn from debate exposure. Debates have undergone format changes over the years, but their ability to attract a mass audience remains constant.
