In the case of Indonesia, most of the tourist attractions offered and advertised are protected forests. This research seeks to find a balance between these two interests, so the purpose of this research is actually to determine the determinants of local community involvement in ecotourism development in Bali. This research uses quantitative methods described in the form of descriptive, and factor analysis according to the results of the survey with informants in the ecotourism of West Bali National Park, Buyan Tamblingan, Bali Mangrove, Batur Kintamani, and Lembongan. Eight factors determine community participation in ecotourism programs in Bali, namely: i) the role of leaders and business opportunities, ii) the factor of mindset and industry cooperation, iii) the factor of income, socialization, and commitment, iv) the factor of awareness of nature conservation, v) the factor of optimism to get money and knowledge, vi) the factor of facilities and independence, vii) the factor of training, interest, and participation, and viii) the factor of skills and funding.

The intricate tapestry of Balinese identity is deeply intertwined with Hinduism, shaping a hierarchical societal structure organized around religious affiliations, castes, and traditional roles. While historically rigid, contemporary Balinese society exhibits a more flexible approach to identity, although Hindu influence remains pervasive. Historical shifts, including Dutch Colonization, Indonesia's independence and subsequent governance policies of the New Order, have further impacted Balinese identity, leading to major changes in Balinese social and political structures, furthermore economic factors, particularly tourism, have played a significant role, both amplifying cultural expression and triggering challenges such as over-tourism and urbanization, with implications for traditional livelihoods and environmental sustainability, The dichotomy of Sekala (perceivable) and Niskala (sacred) encapsulates the dual nature of Balinese culture, with interactions tailored differently for internal and external audiences. This study explores the impact of tourism and government policy on Balinese culture and identity, considering the historical background and economic significance of the island. Tourism being the primary industry, has caused Bali to experienced significant cultural and demographic shifts over the year, the influx of tourism has shaped Balinese society, economy, and cultural practices. Drawing on historical perspectives, writing, as well as contemporary observations the researcher seeks to use literature reviews, participant observations as well as interviews, by integrating firsthand perspectives with existing scholarship, the author aims to view, analyse and understand the impacts of Tourism and a post-colonial government has had and continues enrich and challenge Balinese culture and identity as well for this study to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of this complex phenomenon and inform future research and policymaking in the field.

Objective: This study aims to analyze tourism business performance influenced by human capital, social capital and open innovation. The problem approach in this research uses a supply-side approach regarding how tourism actors use social networks and innovation to build social capital, which impacts increasing company performance. Theoretical framework: This research analyzes tourism performance after the pandemic by integrating social capital and innovation theories (Shi et al., 2020; Ogink et al., 2023). The concept of tourism enterprise performance has received widespread attention among researchers and management practitioners for two decades, as evidenced by various research papers and concept developments that lead the tourism industry to face problems and changes in tourist expectations regarding human capital readiness, social capital and open innovation. However, There is still much to investigate and learn about. This researcher further tested the social capital approach from the tourism service provider side, which still requires further testing. Method: This research explores the application of human capital, social capital and open innovation to government officials and tourism actors in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Yogyakarta was chosen as the research location because Yogyakarta is the second tourist destination after Bali for tourist visits to Indonesia. The sample used in this research was 353 tourism SMEs. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed directly to tourism managers. The data analysis tool uses PLS-SEM structural equations. Result: The analysis results show that the Tourism Enterprise Performance (TEP) model is acceptable, and not all proposed hypotheses have a significant positive effect. Conclusion: Human capital has a positive influence on social capital, and social capital has a positive influence on open innovation and TEP. However, the influence of social capital on open innovation and the influence of open innovation on Tourism Enterprise Performance are not significant. Future research should analyze several human capital, social capital, open innovation and Tep variables separately for each type of tourist destination. This research can create better generalizations regarding TEP in each tourist destination. Originality/Value: The results indicate that the development of literature on human capital, social capital and open innovation has a substantial impact on tourism business performance and the development of tourism entrepreneurship knowledge
