The phenomenon of moral deviation in children is an indication of affective values, such as the decline in morality seen in today's youth. This study aims to determine how the implementation of character education in the content of citizenship education lessons towards prevention of moral decadence for students of class VI SDN 1 Brecek Kec. Kaligondang Purbalingga. This study uses a descriptive analytical qualitative method, which is a research method that describes events that are actual and occur when the research is in progress. Analytical descriptive qualitative method is used to describe and interpret objects according to what they are analytically, through interviews with the unit of analysis, namely two Citizenship Education teachers at SDN 1 Brecek Kaligondang Purbalingga. This study concludes: First, the role of teachers in the implementation of character education in the content of citizenship education lessons in preventing students' moral decadence. Second, the approach or method of learning the character education process used by teachers in an effort to prevent students' moral decadence. Third, solutions or problem solving to the obstacles faced by teachers in the character education process in an effort to prevent students' moral decadence.

Citizenship Education requires learning strategies to be developed, namely Values Clarification Technique (VCT) and social science inquiry. Another factor that has an impact on learning effectiveness is the cognitive style which consists of field dependence (FD) and field independence (FI). The research aims: first, to find out the differences in the acquisition of tolerant values with the application of values clarification learning strategies and social science inquiry; Second, knowing the difference in the value of tolerance for those who have FD and FI; And third, knowing the interaction between the application of learning strategies and cognitive styles in the development of tolerance. Experimental research with a quasi-experimental design. The research subjects were undergraduate level students who were taking Civics courses. Four classes were selected as samples using a cluster sampling, with a total of 149 students who became respondents. Cognitive style test and tolerance test as instruments. Data analysis using MANOVA. Conclusion: first, there is a significant difference in the tolerant attitudes of students between classes that implement VCT and social science inquiry learning activities. The class that applied the VCT strategy got a posttest average tolerance attitude higher than the social science inquiry class; Second, there is no difference in the tolerant attitude of students who have a significant cognitive style; And third, there is interaction between learning strategies and cognitive styles in the development of tolerance. Overall, this research contributes to increasing tolerant attitudes which end at the academic level and attitudes of students. Keywords: learning strategies, cognitive style, tolerance

Permasalahan yang terjadi saat ini adalah masih banyaknya siswa yang kurang memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis sehingga berpengaruh pada hasil belajar PKn yang rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis dampak model pembelajaran value clarification technique dan pengaruhnya terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kuasi eksperimen. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah non equivalent post-test only control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SD yang berjumlah 95 siswa. Sampel diambil dengan teknik random sampling dengan jumlah 50 siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan tes. Instrumen pengumpulan data yaitu lembar tes objektif. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan uji-t sampel tak berkorelasi (Independent T-Test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran VCT dengan kelompok yang dibelajarkan tanpa menggunakan model pembelajaran VCT. Hasil penelitian ini dikuatkan berdasarkan perhitungan uji-t yang memperoleh hasil angka signifikansi 0,000 yang berarti kurang dari 0,05 (0,000<0,05). Disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Value Clarification Technique (VCT) berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IV SD. Model pembelajaran Value Clarification Technique (VCT) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar.
