Goal. To determine the role and place of Institute of Animal Science of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences in the achievements of domestic zootechnical science on the problems of artificial insemination of pigs in the second half of the 20th and the first quarter of the 21st century and show the contribution of individuals to the process of developing methodical and methodological foundations for the development of branch research work. To identify the dynamics of changes in priority scientific directions, the level of improvement of technology and equipment for artificial insemination of agricultural animals. To outline the main technological methods of artificial insemination of pigs, the use of which made it possible to receive high fertilization and prolificacy of animals. Methods. General scientific (typology, classification, analysis and synthesis, abstract-logical) and interdisciplinary (structural-systemic approach), historical (problematic-chronological, descriptive, source and historical analysis and synthesis) are applied. The results. The achievements of scientists of Institute of Animal Science of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences in the field of artificial insemination of pigs include: a system of organizing the reproduction of pigs in the specialized farms; the method of determining the concentration of boar sperm; the method of rational dosing of boar sperm according to the amount of sperm in a volumetric dose; method of long-term storage of boar sperm at low temperatures; method of increasing the intensity of use of sows in the conditions of the large pig farms; aseptic method of taking sperm from boars; glucosecitrate-chelate-yolk medium (HCCH-U) and glucose-citrate-chelate-phosphate-yolk medium (HCCHPH) for diluting and storing boar sperm at a temperature of 6-0 ºС; technology of aseptic selection, processing and packaging of boar sperm; method of training boars to sit on a stuffed animal (phantom); the method of rational dosing of boar sperm using an artificial vagina; mode of continuous long-term use of adult boars; special installation for diluting and packing sperm URRS-2; device POS-5 for deep introduction of sperm into the cervix of a pig (developed and improved); thermos "Kharkiv-TS-3" for storing and transporting sperm; artificial vagina models; scheme of artificial insemination for the large pig farms; point of artificial insemination; method of deep freezing and long-term storage of sperm of boars; a set of devices for laser processing of sperm, etc. Conclusions. The evolution of scientific opinion on the relevant topic at Institute of Animal Science of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences took place over 90 years - from initial experiments to the development of methods of freezing and long-term storage of sperm of boars, as well as the development of effective protective environments and technical means for the implementation of new technologies. The aim of the research was to study the effect of sow and boar age on average weight of newly born piglets, considering the season of the year and the age of the animals. The studies were conducted in the research farm of SE “Gontarivka”, Volchansky district, Kharkiv region. Natural breeding of sows is used for reproduction on the farm. The insemination of sows was carried out according to the scheme of studies. 35 head of sows and 4 boars of different ages and live weights were selected. Four groups of sows were formed. In order to study the impact of the season of the year on sow productivity, the first series of studies were conducted in the autumn, the second series - in the spring according to the same scheme. In different groups of animals, average weight of newly born piglets ranged from 1.10 to 1.21 kg. The average value of this indicator for all sows for both studied seasons was 1.16 kg. The magnitude (for all sows of the period) in winter farrowing was 1.74 % higher than the summer farrowing (for all sows of the period), although the difference between these groups was not probable. Between the sows of different ages, inseminated by boars of different ages, in winter, the higher values were given to young sows that were inseminated by young boars (p<0.01 compared to young sows that were inseminated by full-grown boars). Among the sows of different ages, inseminated by boars of different ages, in the summer, the highest values were middle-aged, which were inseminated by middle-aged boars (p<0.01 compared to young sows in winter, inseminated by full boars and p<0.05 compared to young sows in summer, which were inseminated by adult boars). During the summer period the middle-aged sows, which were inseminated by middle-aged boars, received maximum values of average weight of newly born piglets, which were higher than sows of other groups by 10.00-0.83 %. The most consolidated high-birth-weight rates were obtained in winter for young sows that were inseminated by adult boars. In the summer, the most consolidated were young sows inseminated by young boars.

The article outlines the data on the study of the specifics of the gene pool of the horses of the Trakehner breed of domestic selection as a whole (n = 236), and leading tribal business entities and the private sector. Immunogenetic differences are identified and a comparative characteristic of horses of farms behind frequencies and spectrum of alleles of genetic blood group systems has been carried out. The population of the Trakehner breed of horses of domestic selection owns a peculiar immunogenetic profile in the context of the tribal business entities and the private sector, owns certain specificity and variability, which is associated with both breed differences and different breeding methods in our country. In stallions (n=89), the frequency of the Dcegm allele (q=0,034), Dd (q=0.124), Ddg (q=0.079), Ddk (q=0.337) is significantly a significant temple, and Dbcm alleles (q=0.129), Dcgm (q=0.185), Dde (q=0.112) significantly low than the Dcegm mares (n=147) (q=0.014), Dd (q=0.102), Ddg (q=0.065), Ddk (q=0.320) and Dbcm (q=0.146), Dcgm (q=0.207), Dde (q=0.139) - respectively. Also, the stallions had no allele Dad. The Trakehner horse breed of domestic selection has the highest concentration in the frequencies of alleles DDK (q=0.326), and somewhat high in the frequencies of Dcgm alleles (q=0.199), Dbcm (q=0.139) and Dde (q=0.129). The allele Dad (q=0,004) is extremely rare. The most common among all the populations of the Trakehner horse breed studied by us according to the D-system are the alleles Dcgm, Ddk. They were observed on all farms of certified horses of this breed. The highest frequencies of the Dcgm allele in the farms: OOO "Borzhava Plus" (q=0.35), OOO "Kleinoda" (q=0.33), OOO "KSK"Prodani koni"(q=0.31), SOOO AF "Zorya"(q=0.21) and private owners (q=0.22). The frequency of the Ddk allele is the highest in the farms of OOO "Borzhava Plus" (q=0.65), the horse farm "Vinnichina" (q=0.50), OOO "Kleinoda" (q=0.50), OOO "Russia" (q=0.50). In the same system, the Dcegm allele was observed in 4 farms: SOOO AF "Zorya" (q=0.03), the equestrian plant "Vinnichina" (q=0.07), in small farms (q=0.03) and frequent sectors (q=0.05). The highest number of homozygous horses of the Trakehner breed in farms: GP "Pivdenkonetsenter" (N = 5), OOO "Russia" (n = 5) and in small farms (n = 8).
