Point defects in GaN were studied with time-resolved photoluminescence (PL). The effects of temperature and excitation intensity on defect-related PL have been investigated theoretically and experimentally. A phenomenological model, based on rate equations, explains the dependence of the PL intensity on excitation intensity, as well as the PL lifetime and its temperature dependence. We demonstrate that time-resolved PL measurements can be used to find the concentrations of free electrons and acceptors contributing to PL in n-type semiconductors. V

Ein/iihrung.W~thrend fiber die Lumineszenz der Erdalkalisulfide und der Zinkund Zinkkadmiumsulfide eiti sehr reiches Beobachtungsmaterial vorliegt, ist die Zahl der Arbeiten fiber die Lumineszenz der Alkalisulfide aul3erordentlich gering. Abgesehen Yon WOL~ [1!, tier rote Lumineszenz bei Kalium-und Natriumsulfid erw~ihnt, ohne auf eine n~here Deutung dieses Ph~inomens einzugehen, beschreiben nur TIEI)E und REINICKE !21 die Preparation yon Natriumsulfid-und Rubidiumsulfidphosphoren. Die Natriumsulfidphosph0re waren mit Eisen aktiviert und leuchteten, angeregt mit ultrav!01e~m Licht der Wellenl~nge Z= 3t 0 m~, grtin. Den Aktivator der Rubidiumsulfidphosphore konnten die Autoren nicht ermitteln.In Fortsetzung einer Arbeit von GOBRECHT [31 wollen wit im folgenden die Pr~iparation und die Eigenschaften einiger Alkalisulfid-und -sulfatleuchtstoffe beschreiben, die im Gegensatz zu den soeben er, w~ihnten Phosphoren ihre LeuchtfXhigkeit keinen Fremdaktivatoren verdanken.' Wie weit sich die in dieser Arbeit gewonnenen Erkenntnisse auch auf Erdalkaliverbindungen tibertragen lassen, soll einer sp/itercn Untersuchung vorbehalten bteiben; Bariumverbindungen werden jedoch * Vorgetragen am 19. Die Temperaturabh�ngigkeit der Lumineszenz der Alkalipolysulfid- und Uranylsalzphosphore

Es wird gezeigt, dab die Abklingung der Alkalipolysulfid-und Uranylsalzphosphore bei allen Temperaturen exponentiell verlituft und dab die Zeitkonstante T der Abklingung bei allen Phosphoren mit h6herer Temperatur abnimmt. Das Emissionsspektrum yon vier Uranylverbindungen wird bei + 20 ~ C und --180 ~ C angegeben. Der Temperaturverlau~ der Quantenausbeute ist bei allen Phosphoren yon der Erregungsintensit~t unabh~ingig, eine Thermolumineszenz konlite nicht entdeckt werden. Die MeBergebnisse best~tigen den monomolekularen Leuchtmechanismus beider Leuchtstoffgruppen, die als Reinstoffphosphore viele Gemeinsamkeiten aufweisen. Bei den Polysulfiden wird dariiber hinaus auf einen Zusammenhang der Abklingkonstanten mmit dem Emissionsbandenschwerpunkt hingewiesen. 21'
