The Influence of Different Power Settings of Nd:YAG Laser Irradiation, Bioglass and Combination to the Occlusion of Dentinal Tubules

Abstract: Under the limitations of this study, Nd:YAG laser irradiation at 1 W, alone or combined with NM, is a superior method for producing DOO, and may lead to an effective treatment modality for CDH.

“…Therefore, using physical or chemical methods to seal exposed patent dentinal tubule orifices is a fundamental requirement. Various agents and methods have been recommended to reduce DH including chemical methods such as dentifrices or gels containing fluorides, potassium nitrate and oxalates, and physical methods such as dentin bonding agents [9] [10]. However, most treatments are either ineffective or only last for a short period of time [11] [12].…”

“…There is a dose-response relationship between the effectiveness of the dentin sealing and the laser energy or density, which is closely related to the laser energy per pulse, laser frequency and irradiation time [10] [16] [17]. However, the specific quantitative effect of irradiation time does not appear to have been investigated as an independent factor, which is the objective of the present study.…”

“…Dessa forma, os dessensibilizantes à base de fluoretos, como os vernizes fluoretados, têm sido bastante empregados (LAN et al, 1999;CAKAR et al, 2008;FARMAKIS et al, 2013;). Lukomsky (1941), foi o primeiro autor a propor a aplicação tópica de fluoreto de sódio (NaF) na forma de uma pasta à base de NaF, argila e glicerina, no tratamento da HD.…”
