The Influence of Channa Striata Extract Emulgel on Incision Wound Healing in White Rats

Abstract: Snakehead fish (Channa striata) have high albumin content, a protein needed for cell development and the formation of new tissue. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of snakehead fish extract emulgel given topically on incision wounds in white rats. The parameters of wound healing consist of wound length, a number of neutrophils, macrophages, fibroblasts and density of collagen. The white rats divide into three groups of (n = 6), one group was given the emulgel base as the negative control, on… Show more

“…Combining scientific knowledge about the potential of snakehead fish with the increasing consumer need for natural and sustainable skin care, this research is an important first step in developing skin care products that are effective, environmentally friendly and based on local natural resources. In conclusion, research on extracting snakehead fish that increases collagen and skin fibroblast activity not only provides new insight into the skin health benefits of this natural ingredient but also has the potential to encourage innovation in the skin care industry for a more sustainable and beneficial future for human skin health (Hendriati et al, 2019).…”

“…Channa striata, or snakehead and locally known as ikan gabus for Indonesian and haruan for Malaysian people, has been used for folk medicine, especially for women after giving birth and people after surgery [1,2]. Research on the ability of Channa striata water extract for wound healing instruments has been reported by Rahayu et al [3] and Hendriati et al [4]. Besides, Channa striata extract has a protective effect to inhibit cadmium-induced oxidative stress in the liver [5].…”
