“…This article underlines the issue of heart valve procedures in a special collective of organ transplant recipients, who represent a population of high-risk immunosuppressed patients with potential high morbidity and mortality rates (11,12).…”
In heart and renal recipients, valve operations can be performed effectively and safely with acceptable mortality, low cardiac morbidity, and excellent clinical results, although infection is the most serious complication.

“…Sternal wound infection or incisional surgical site infection (ISSI) continues to be a relevant problem after heart transplantation (HT), which can sometimes be complicated by mediastinitis (1–3). However, cases of ISSI in HT are seldom reported and its incidence has rarely been analyzed (3–5).…”
“…A principal modalidade diagnóstica usada para detecção da colelitíase é o exame ultra-sonográfico de rotina em todos os pacientes como avaliação pré-operatória e acompanhamento após transplante em intervalos contínuos de seis ou 12 meses 5 .…”
